Riding a vehicle in the highest gear may save syou fuel, but if that is creating engine lash, you are going to savrifice on engine hardware which may just be a lot more expsnive than the fuel you may save.
Coming to the kmpl, most bikes irrespective of 600/1000 in a normal state of tune would yield 13-15 kmpl in city, and 17-20 on highway runs. Infact you may even have 400s only yielding a 15 kmpl.
