The Delhi-Lansdowne route is a good one. It has a few rough patches, but really nothing that the R1 cannot handle. And the ride from Kotdwara uphill all the way to Lansdowne is surely a scenic, cool and real quiet one; something that you and the R1 - both would remember!

Also, there isn't any crowd to speak of at Lansdowne, so the R1 would be safe from prying eyes as well. But, do not forget to book your accomodation in advance or else that could prove to be a headache. I would anyday suggest the GMVN tourist guest house over anything else (the couple of hotels that are available).

All in all I totally believe that the Delhi-Lansdowne trip is doable for the R1, and in one day(!!) no less (if you are willing to).
