the vmax is more of a cruiser than a sports tourer. and there is a reason that it seems to be faster than the litre bikes. according to the stats the vmax has a 1670 cc engine but weighs 310 kilos . even if it has 30 horses more than a litre bike it weighhs over 100 kilos more . shifting the power to weight ratio heavily towards the litre bikes
the reason its so fast is because of the torque the big motor generates coupled with the short gearing for the comparitively low top speed.
litrebikes are geared for the track and the first gear is generally good for over 150 (about 160 on my zx10)
if you had a running start from about 100'k onwards it would be a pretty good match with the litrebikes , and i would say the litrebikes would probably win due to the weight advantage
