The customs guys are normally one step ahead of us and can spring umpteen surprises during the clearance process. People have tried under- invoicing, dismantling, minor damaging, showing as scrap etc etc, but every which way for customs its "Heads I win, Tails you lose".

Your uncle could probably bring the stuff on TR, whereby the rate is comparatively a little lesser for bikes & cars (its a lot more beneficial for household items). NO, TR does not mean he has to pack his bags for good. Its just that you can avail the TR facility once in 2 or 3 years, but continue with your job abroad. You could check the exact conditions on the Indian customs website or from a good clearing agent.

End of the day, importing a bike on your own is still a long & complicated project.
