Default The Passion Hunt India Roadtrip : Day 64: Apr 4th, Chennai Mega Event

Day 64: Apr 4th, Chennai Mega Event

Text: Sunil Gupta

This day in that beautiful city turned out bit disappointing in some senses for the whole Passion Hunt team. Second last mega city event and we had the least number of participants in a city as big as Chennai. Even less than Ahmedabad which we thought would be least active in terms of biking. Like Kolkata, Chennai also surprised us, but negatively this time.

Even among these handful of participants, there were quite a few faces that are quite regular on these passion hunt events and some expected faces like Kriss and also some unexpected ones like Nikhil, the young chap Hyderabad who was in the top 4 in his hometown and went on to become the Chennai City winner.

The day was hot, no actually it was HOT and HUMID. Being under the sun even for a few seconds was a killing experience. Kudos to all the participants and the people who are organizing it, they really braved the Chennai heat.

But apart from the heat, there were other things from this day worth remembering. First was the chief guest for the day, Alisha Abdullah and the second was the whiz kid from Chennai, Karoon Murthy.. Good to see this budding talent, future of biking really seems bright in India.

Coming back to the event story, it was again a tough battle among the bikers. After all the hard work, the finalists chosen were our very own Krishna Chaitanya (Kriss) and Nikhil, both from Hyderabad. The battle was intense between these two, it was impossible to tell who the winner will be until the last declaration. But in the event, the young chap Nikhil was a just a little (literally just a little) too much for Kriss, he won by a margin of 1.5 seconds, the closest victory margin that we have seen during our entire journey. A little bad luck Kriss. Well done Nikhil. See you in finals in Delhi.

But the most memorable thing from the day was sportsman spirit of Kriss, it was a lovely sight to behold him putting so much effort in taking the pic of Nikhil receiving the trophy. Hats off to you man.

It would be unfair if I don’t mention about the Nikhil and his father competing against each other in the Chennai mega event, and both came in top 10 too. They both drove from Hyderabad to Chennai putting the bike in their 4-wheeler. Its not the victory, it’s really the spirit of the game that matters and they both proved it. I am short of words to describe the happiness on Nikhil’s father when the name of the winner was declared. You have to be there to witness that.

So, the day was over much before we expected. Very less number of participants, yet a fruitful day for all of us.
