Default xBhp / RSA : Pune - Mumbai Intercity meet

[u]xBhp Pune Mumbai InterCity Meet

Preparatory :

Hi xbhpians !!!

This is Rash here. As you all know, we have been planning a Mumbai – Pune G2G at the end of this month. xBhpians from Mumbai and Pune will meet each other, know each other and will share their most common passion – anything and everything related to bikes. The decided date is the 30th of May 2004. With the rains round the corner by that time, what better place can we have for a meet than Lonavla ? Plans ? Well, as of now we have decided to meet, know each other, share knowledge or gain some and of course do what we all love to – wheelies, stoppies, drags – u name it. Sounds interesting, right ? Then what are we waiting for ? Check out the schedule and get ready for one on the biggest g2gs in our part of the country !!!

Trip Log :
Posted by rash_rp

THIS IS A TRIP LOG, HENCE IS LONG.

Around one month back, we just came up with an idea of having a small Pune – Lonavla G2G, where xbhpians from Pune and Mumbai would meet, know each other and share some knowledge and have a good time. The day decided for the G2G was 30th May….

30th May, 2004

The day as usual dawned with the sunrise. But for me it dawned with the call from a friend. He called for the confirmation of the plan. It was 6 in the morning. After giving him the final time and venue, I got up and started getting ready. Turbocharged gave me a call at around 7:15 a.m. to tell me that he had reached the venue. His call was soon followed by Mukul’s call cause he did not know the way to the venue. Soon he was accompanied to the venue by Sayta, along with Mukul’s other cousins / friends. It was almost 7:30, that was our meeting time. I as usual was still in my parking lot, waiting for another friend who did not know the way to the venue. After he came we left for the venue and I was there by 7:45, ok late as usual. After having a few photos and intros it was finally time to leave. I gave Ken a call. They were about to leave. So just when we were gonna leave too, I got a call from Punit that he had a punctured tyre and he was on his way to the venue with another friend. So we waited for him. After he came in, it was FINALLY time to leave, it was around 8:10. So all of vroomed our engines for 5 seconds and finally set sail.

We had decided to move in a proper group formation, but with powerful bikes under us and all of us pumped up with excitement we couldn’t rest our horses and we started racing each other…maybe that was the probable cause of Ricci’s wonderful post yesterday. Then I had to use a few harsh words against everyone and finally we were riding in a group. If was a wonderful feeling, 15 bikes with the lamps on, in one nice long formation. Even the on-going traffic was amazed to see a long line of bikers, in all black clothes, riding like an army of knights. A good formation would have looked much better, but this was looking wicked too….

Soon we were approaching Lonavla. All of us were expecting heavy showers or at least black clouds, considering that we had rain a day earlier, and also considering the inputs we got from TanmayJ-Ken. But the only black we could see was a line of 15 on the road, zooming past every other vehicle. When we were just 5 Kms away from the city, I got a call from Octane. After giving him the status of our position, we were heading to where these ppl were awaiting our arrival. Ken was waiting for us, and so all of us followed him. I thought he was leading us to the place the Mumbai guys were waiting, and he thought that we and the Mumbai guys were behind him and that we all were going somewhere. But we soon realized that something was wrong and we stopped. Then he took us back to where these people were standing, wondering where we had gone. So finally we met, all the Pune people and the Mumbai guys. Man that was a sight…more than 20 bikes at the side of the road, even the traffic police were baffled. With such a nice ride, the fuel tanks still had fuel, but the stomachs were empty. It was time for some food..and people like me and soulreaper were more than happy about the thought. We decided to head over to Bhushi Dam….
Again, we were riding in a line. More than 20 bikes this time. We were on our way to Bhushi Dam, when suddenly a Black / Yellow colored scooter zoomed onto the road followed by a Yellow CBR 900 Fireblade, a Blue YZF-R1 and a Blue / White GSXR-1000. I took a u turn and followed these bikes to see if I could have a talk with them. But sadly, the Gixxer guy told us that were late already and so they couldn’t wait. Never mind I said…and me, followed by Souly and Techno headed back to the place we turned from, not knowing what was in store for us ahead. At the signal was a gang of bigger babes…a Honda Valkyrie, 2 Honda CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird(s), a Suzuki GSX1300R Busa, a CBR 600 F and a Ducati 999. Boy…that was something. After regaining our senses, it was time for us to head to Bhushi Dam. After a nice ride on some narrow roads through the small villages we reached our destination. On our way there, we even saw a black V-Max. Anyway, enuf of the bigger bikes, back to single-cylinders….

We had some wada-pavs and some aerated drinks. That guy sure made some good business that day…After FILLING our stomachs with such tiny bites we soon started heading in search for what we all wanted – empty space on tarmac. We started moving towards the road that heads to Amby Valley ( the thing SAHARA is going crazy about). Man, those were roads…just the way every biker would want, curvaceous, smooth, soft. Hey I’m talking about the roads, what are you people thinking ? After a nice small ride, we reached Tiger Point. All of us came in on an empty spot on the brown sand and parked our bikes…there were loads of people / tourists who had come to watch the different points. They were at first amazed to see so man bikes at a time, but then they got back to their sight seeing. Just then, Souly pulled up a wheelie and carried it quite long. “Aaare woh dekho !!!” a kid shouted…..

Soon other members like Kerman and Techno joined in. BTW guys I really appreciate Techno’s effort. He has never done stunts, but he at least tried something that day, cant say the same about others, way to go Techno. Hanoz soon gave his lessons to everyone on what balance is all about, with some cool acrobatics on a Pulsar DTSi. Soon more and more of our members started to do stuff, and even try new things. We had some great Wheelies by Souly which as Turbo said, can even bring the Bajaj Ad guys down to their knees. Then some awesome Stoppies by Kerman. This guy has awesome talent…Loads of burnouts from everyone…we had everything that day !!! Within 30 mins of our arrival, all the public that had come to see the different were actually watching us and nothing else. All their cameras, handycams and any other imaging device, all were pointing to us. That was really pumping up everyone. It brought out the best in everyone.

So we decided to have a final group photo and then go check out Amby Valley. After another great photo session, we again vroomed our bikes for 5 secs and then we left for Amby Valley. Some people were already getting late, so they left back for Pune at this point. The rest of us headed towards Amby Valley. After some more riding on curvaceous roads we finally reached Amby Valley. Me, Koolsun, Ken, Techno, Souly and Octane were waiting for other when a Santro came along. Navneet was in there, I thought he met some friends..but then Kedar came too and he told us that they had met with an accident. Their bike slipped on one of the turns, Navneet had probably broken his arm. Now things were starting to get worse, Hanoz came to me and told me that even BhatiaJ had a crash and scbeaten his knee..
We then went to the nearest Hospital where we got some dressing done for BhatiaJ and Kedar. Navneet was taken for a X-RAY scan. After some time the doc confirmed that it was a fracture. The plaster was going to take some time, so we decided that the Mumbai guys could leave and the Pune guys will stay till things are finished. The Mumbai guys were gonna have lunch, so we asked some of the Pune guys to go and join them too. After all was finished, we decided that Navneet would be sent to Pune by a local train. Another of our friend accompanied him to Pune. Till this time the guys who had gone for lunch hadn’t returned and for some reason we had to hurry back home too. So we gave Techno a call and told him that we were leaving. We headed back home…

All in all we had a great meet. We never expected that what started with a small suggestion would turn out to be something this big. We had kind of bitter end to this wonderful meet. But then, it was a biker meet and accidents are a part of a biker’s life.
