It's called taper braking and if you ride a big bike, you HAVE to learn it.

Practice makes it instinctive and it's instinct that kicks in when you panic. You need to spend a few dozen hours over a longish period of time (say 2 weeks) for your brain to start registering it as an automatic, decisionless action. go to an empty road and pretend theres a cow in the middle! then practise tapering the brakes. Shame we don't have any decent riding schools in india, given the growing number of big bikes here.
