Diesel engines have a very high compression ratio n so the engines have to be very sturdy (Read:Bulky).
Moreover, people here complain abt the vibes in RTR. Imagine wat will they say if they ride a diesel engine...(those who have ridden the diesel bullet aka Taurus will know what im saying) for those who haven't, imagine a 2 wheeled Tractor
starting the bike takes a lot of efforts....even the guys weighing 70 odd kgs will find find it hard..

so forget abt the others..Starter motors will be a lot heavy (read: Costly)
now talkin abt the recent technology in the Diesel engines, they have not reduced the Compression Ratio so that the engines can be made light weigh (compared to Petrol Engines) the Modern Diesel engines are light weight but only compared to their predecesssors...they are still considerably heavy.
Cold Starting a Diesel Engine is really a pain in .....

even the modern Diesel Engines are not as impressive as compared to the contemporary Petrol Engines.
The Torquier single cylinder mill will never ever be a smooth running mill it will have to be a multi cylinder (say inline or flat) this again will increase the COST of the bike..
A heavier Engine will also need a Stiffer Chassis, so more weight...
So now would u like to use a CHOTA HAATHI (BABY ELEPHANT) that doesn't move fast and also gives u more tremors than what the most powerful Earthquake wud have ever given????????
naaaaaaaaaaa...
But there is a Positive side of this too...
the Fuel Efficiency will be Rocket High...yup u guys read it correctly...
the Diesel Bullet used to deliver approx 70kmpl
