That happens..and even if it doesn't actually happen, the uncertainty about the road underneath is always on the back of one's mind and that affects how hard one brakes.

But there is one notable advantage the big bikes provide. And that has to do with their superb control feedback. The rider can actually feel every incremental difference in the braking force as he makes millimetric lever and pedal movements. This amazing feedback is just not there in any of our Indian bikes (with the probable exception of the R15 to some extent). This ability to 'feel' the contact patch while braking is a great confidence booster.
