Mountain biking is just in it's infancy here. You have the advantage of being one of the first movers. So, you are onto something that will only grow biger with time.

Post on BCMtouring. There are plenty of serious mountain bikers/tourers there. Could you post a little more about how noobs like me could put together the entire cycle with the frame from you. Details about tyres, etc would be very helpful.

Cheers,

Jay
hey buddy !!
you're right about mountain biking being in its infancy here, when we started mountain biking in 1994, i guess we were the only ones who knew the sport inside out.

over the years, i have built couple of mtb frames for my friends, when i was in symbiosis college, then got a 9 to 12 a.m. job in the animation industry, this industry suxxx big time! no stability whatsoever. never mind. its a long story... got married, have one sweet daughter, but all this meant, mountain biking had to take a back seat. (my 3000 US$ freeride mountain bike is gatherin dust in my room. this IS BAAAD !!)

i got laid off from my animation company ( baah..sheesh, cant avoid talkin about this) and am workin currently as a 3d modeler for a small time company , to be honest i wanna get out of this mine field, that when i thought i should get back to my true love, mountain bikes !!

even though , m not a mech engineer, and i dont have a degree in metallurgy either, i have a fair knowledge about metallurgy, thanks to mountain biking, and mountain bike related websites, magazines, the internet, and my passion for building bikes. i have a decent amount of knowldege related to metals thats used for building bikes, mobikes, and heck, even aeroplanes !!
some knowledge of carbon fiber and composite materials too. i.e, how the whole thing is laid up to be stronger and blah blah...
but makin bikes out of carbon fiber would be too expensive for me at the moment, so i'd stick to steel, aluminum and maybe even titanium alloy.

now for your question...
you asked me "Could you post a little more about how noobs like me could put together the entire cycle with the frame from you. Details about tyres, etc would be very helpful."

if you own a bike, you could dissassemble your current bike and fix up the components on the frame that i built, i could do it for you for free if you are in pune !!! or if you need better parts, i could get that for you.. which ever suits you. i'll even teach you how to fix parts to a bike frame. its just a matter of a few hours.

btw..finalised on a design, will be getting it made. will post pics soon..

and thanx a lot for the words of encouragement brother !
i needed that !!
