Really Disappointed
The karizma has been around for 6 years and that was enough time for the R&D to get everything right with the bike. But instead we got a bike that might and I say "might" be worse than its predecessor.
Power in this case is insignificant as the earlier motor was well optimised. I dont care about 16.9 or 17.6 b.h.p.... We should understand that even a b.h.p gain is a lot of effort and gaining it is not the problem, sustaining it in all conditions is.
These are a list of modifications the Karizma should have got apart from a b.h.p. jump for the speed freaks out there.
Fatter(or same size doesnt matter)forks upfront with atleast 7-8 inches of travel and externally adjustable preload. Rake is perfect.
Stiffer frame with increased height and ground clearance.
Rear monoshock could have been adapted from any of Honda's existing models. Preferred style would have been an offset Monoshock without linkages with 7-8 inches of travel and a lightweight swingarm.
The Karizma 's alternator is undoubtedly the best in the business, so a well optimised 55/60 HID should be standard as well.
Brakes should be discs front and rear. Front should be atleast a 300mm for sufficient cooling and should be progressive all through like the R15's.
Exhaust could have been routed a bit higher to make it easier to wade in water (hehe).
Barkbusters or Handguards could have been an option as well.
Plastics should be much stronger or done away with wherever possible.
Throttle could be a quick lift throttle without the push-pull cable B.S.
Should have a much larger clutch bell, with bigger clutch plates and more importantly stronger clutch springs. You will never be able to unleash the power of the karizma until this particular change was made.
Footpegs should be grippier and mounts stronger, I have broken mine twice.
Triple clamp was not necessary, they could have given a much stiffer, taller handlebar with a proper clamp instead of the puny ones they do now.
Skidplates should probably be an option as well.
Tyres should remain 100/90 at the most 110/90 for the rear. Increased size in the front will result in bad handling. Mags could be lighter.
I have understood that the term road in India has no meaning and that even if you are on road you are bound to encounter off-road conditions at one point or the other. I am happy with my bike and the above mentioned mods would be a practical upgrade that HH could have done and unknowingly pleased a lot of people. But I also know that this is not possible. I will NEVER be able to buy a bike made in India that could compete with international bikes. Even most of the people who ride bikes for recreation do not understand what they want in a bike, it is not their mistake but the fault of the manufacturers themselves. I am living in a land where fitting two spark plugs is a TECHNOLOGY and "gas charged" twin shocks are somehow marketed as better without knowing why or what. Bikes that do 120kmph come with 35w healights and tractors with a topspeed of 40kmph get two 55w headlight bulbs.
I fail to understand how people think the R15 has superior tyres "specially made by MRF",this fact was even validated by major magazines. People there are people and can make mistakes but this is plain ignorance/stupidity. FOR GODSSAKE ITS THE MONOSHOCK WITH LINKAGES THATS GIVING YOU BETTER GRIP.

And you wonder why the R15's suspension is non-adjustable, beacause Yamaha knows fools like the above wouldn't know how to adjust it in the first place.
Well thats that, you'll know what I'm talking about if you watch offroad events in India like motocross etc. Its funnier than the Great Indian Laughter challenge.
