Funny that I was just watching '2012' and here we I read another sort of calamity for mankind.
But I wonder why we werent able to manufacturer a H powered two wheeler if you had a H powered pickup!
Good stuff mate!

Thanks for the approval, thanks for the kind words!
It is scary when you say 'probably not so far into the future'!
As for the hydrogen powered 2 wheelers, well

It's not like I wouldn't ever get to ride or drive again. It's just that riding or driving would never be the same again. That's why this last journey is so important.

We would ride around on electric/Hydrogen two wheelers, but it would never be the same as having a throbbing combustion engine between your legs would it?

Nostalgia usually has a 'resigned to fate' component in it. Even 'future nostalgia' as in your story . Somehow, your words do contain that 'dispiritedness' and yet the situation does not come up as all that bad. People have not lost values (the old woman forgives and the rider still 'feels' bad), they can still drive around (albeit with a different fuel), Ladakh and the road to it is still desolate and not 'developed'. Thank you for all this too.
Looking forward to seeing more from you...both in words and through the brush.

Whoa, OF.. I hadn't analyzed my story that much! Like you pointed out, I think it would be a jaw dropping surprise if the roads to Leh stayed as they are...
Thank a lot for the encouragement, and I'll try my best to come up with more stuff like this
@Rocky,moeed,46wannabe: Thanks for the words guys, thanks again.
