Really sorry for replying so late, just missed this thread! In case you are still vying your options on your friend's Avy, I would suggest : "Go For It". If you just love cruising with your knees bent at large angles..then Avenger is the best on offer!
If it has never seen highways, 3000 kms is an okay run, considering an avg of 250 kms a month. Make sure you get it checked by a nearby Probiking mechanic, just to check if the engine is doing good. The other things wont trouble you a lot.
Mileage ..umm depends a lot on your driving and also on the city in which you live.If you live in a crowded city with narrow roads subjecting you to more gear shifts, you can expect a 35 kmpl for a decently maintained Avy. If you ask me, I get a whopping 41 at Bhubaneswar!
