Categorization of
International Motorcycles and
Indian Motorcycles will be quite different..
Internationally there are many kind of motorcycles like "Dirt Bikes" which do not exist in India currently.

Touring: Usually heavy. E.g. BMW R 1200 GS, Honda goldwing. Main purpose is to munch miles after miles without tiring for both man and machine.
Street: Can be of different weight and different power. E.g Yamaha MT01 Honda CB 1000R. Purpose is to command the street.
Choppers: Need I say anything.
Dirt: Those little things that flies around dirt tracks or offroad. Usually light and nimble.
Commuters: Almost all small capacity bikes available in India. Usually light and small. Economy being the mantra.

This more or less covers the
"International" Motorcycle Categorization..

Quite right. The "Avenger" mimics the American "Crusier" style of motorcycles, The "R15" mimics the "Super Sports" bikes, the "FZ-16" mimics the big capacity "Street bikes" like the (1000cc) "FZ1".
By and large, India is a market for small capacity (
below 250cc) motorcycles meant to be ridden mostly on streets.
