I wanted to know more on this bike
1) Most reviews says this bike gives around 40-45 kmpl
2) few dealers say that it does not give more than 35-40 kmpl.
3) I did take a test drive and felt body pain after taking the test
drive. May be due to the sporty style of the bike.
4) I am also worried if I develop backpain after continueous driving
R15 in city (bangalore).
5) Looking to know more inputs on this bike from the club.
6) Please do recommend your suggestion if its worth investing 1,12,370
(onroad in bangalore) for yamaha R15.
7) Most of the review do mention that yamaha after sales is not good.

I have few more queries before booking my R15
1) in yamaha india website I see Graphite black color which also looks
good but when I enquired in yamaha showroom they say yamaha has
stopped this color and now way we can get this color.
2) I had been to MSP autoworld in bangalore (yamaha dealer) for test
drive and had to come back three times as the vehicle had puncture and
the final time I was able to start my test drive and go a little
distance there was no petrol in the bike..
3) In some reviews I see that the bike drives very well after crossing
3000 rpm.
Below 3000RPM bike is bit sluggish, but its something one needs to
adjust while riding the bike, and once you have adjusted yourself
there should not be any problem.
Though the bike is doesn't torquey but pulls neatly at lower gears and
once Revolutions build up, it pulls pretty easily in the higher gears
too.
So, while riding the bike idea is to be above 3000RPM most of the
time, if you are not in first gear...
My question is would that be a high rev driving on a new bike as the
engine needs to be set in first 1000 kms?
4) This is my first yamaha bike which I have planned for and I need to
know the gear shifting ratios which I see in some sites which I don't
understand.
1st=2.833,
2nd=1.875,
3rd:=1.364,
4th=1.143,
5th=0.957,
6th=0.84
How would this technical details matter for normal driving?
Is there any specific speeds ratios for each gear?
5) Would anyone recommend upgrading headlights to HID on R15.. would
it drain the battery ?
6) Yamaha has provided performance upgrades on R15 like disc brakes,
LED lights and other accessories..
Has anyone upgraded the discs on R15.
7) Can we get the stickering done on the Racing blue of R15 done on
Sunset red as I did no like the stickering job on the new Red and
black color.
The mileage ~ 40kmpl. Depends on how you ride it.
You'll get used to the riding position, although i do find the bike a bit small, and shifting gears is an issue for me. (I'm exactly 6ft) You'll have to check that for yourself.
If you want a performance bike, go for it. There is no other bike this segment that offers the balance, composure and sheer .. shall i say perfection in riding?
It just cuts away, be it in traffic or on highways.
I'm not sure about the colour in Bangalore, but when i went to the Kamla Yamaha in Mumbai they said that Blue has been canceled out.
The real power is only felt after 5000-6000 rpm, after which you get blown away with the pick up.
Definitely, for the first 1500km you shouldn't be redlining your bike. Keep it cool for the run in, then let her rip!
One year down the line when you've gotten used to the bike and the power is no more exhilarating, you can go for engine mods for much better low end pull. This is possible and one of the xbhp members has done this.
Do not bother with such fine technical details such as gear ratios, trust me you will enjoy every time you get on your bike.
R15's headlamps are good, no need for a HID conversion. Even if you do go in for it the battery won't be affected if wiring is done right.
Why change the disk brakes?? This bike has the best braking ability of all. Anyone, and i mean ANYONE will agree. Only the Ninja is better on this front.
By stickering i think you mean the racing colours.
Buddy, you can get the red racing colour if you want! No need to change any stickers. Clear you doubts on this with the dealer.
