Other brands like Veedol, Gulf, Petronas etc have also been mentioned. So if you can find a properly rated oil (xW50) with JASO MA certification, go for it and let us know how it does. You will not hurt your engine if you follow these two requirements.

These are the most well known on XBHP and a lot of people use them or have used them. I'm currently using 5100 15W50 and it works like a charm, should last for about 2500-3000km. Yes, I know Bajaj gives the oil change interval for the 220 dtsi as 5000km, so be my guest and see if oil lasts that long. Personally, I would change it after about 2500km for SS and 5000 to 6000 for FS.
