No mate it's more like R1:Superbike::R15:Superbike replica.

doesn't the new fazer finds itself very much similar to the fz-16; which in turn was very similar to its father, the FZ-1?

Yes, internationally also the Fazer is the Faired version of the FZ1 and here to the Fazer is the faired version of the FZ again goin by my logic.
FZ1/FAZER: Sexy naked street sports:: FZ16: Sexy Naked street sprots replica.
Considering Indian road conditions and the traffic and the cost factor Yamaha have given us the indian youth great motorcycles that carry the lineage of international legends the R1 and the FZ1 and the R15 and the FZ series are well on their way of getting there in an Indian context.
And now about my like logic a milk packet looks like any other milk packet of whatever capacity and so do pulsars.

wasn't the styling of the pulsar generations ahead of all others (that were present in the indian market) when it was launched?

This was back in the day mate and Thats why i bought a P180 ug1 back in 2002 could not come to terms with it's handling, overall lack of refinement in build quality, low level of service support and gave it up for a bullet after using it for 18000 kms in 9 months.

to add some value to the post, yes, the yamaha definitely is the eye-candy, and the handling part too! but then, you mentioned yourself that the pulsar is the more powerful among the too, and looks ain't that bad either. both have goods and bads, which vary according to the mindset of a rider. not in a mood to compare the two now!
cheers

Adding to this YAMAHA s are not just about eye candy they re about building motorcycles with charecter, reliabilty and dependancy. And the youthful eye candy is just the bonus.
The YAMAHA stays ahead.
