What other factors come into play? Hiren pointed out after-market parts. Mileage and condition of the bike are also there (though I would have no clue how to judge a superbike's condition).

Condition of the bike, thats a very important point you raise.
I guess it will make sense to lurk around the ownership threads and see how the bikes fare in the next 1-2 years.
I can only hope that people who buy official bikes take good care of the bike, atleast the official bikes on xBHP are well cared for.
