Zyan, the context here is to do with touring. Engines of our small capacity bikes, the likes of which most of us use for touring here, give their best fuel efficiency at speeds in the 40-60 kph bracket. Riding long distance is about safe yet quick distance travel and speeds somewhat higher than those that give max. mileage are common for covering long distances in reasonable time. So there shall be a definite drop in FE though its somewhat offset by the steady speeds that highways allow compared to urban usage.
