Yesterday, while working on an edit request by Satyen Poojary on the Official Mumbai Offline G2G thread, I was also pruning of some unnecessary posts and xBhp updation going on alongside. In the process, I accidently deleted a big chunk of posts from the Mumbai Offline G2G thread. The mistake was identified almost within seconds, but the data had been deleted from the server. We took every single step that we could’ve taken to ensure that we do not lose any data and fortunately we were able to restore almost all of the posts (barring the posts in the last 2-3 hours before which the backup was taken on the servers). This is partly the reason why xBhp was down for a duration much longer than we had anticipated.

I know any words of apologies from my side are not enough to compensate what has been lost. I know how it feels to lose memories of good times that you’ve believed will always be there for you. I can empathize with the feeling as I too was a part of the scene when xBhp crashed in ’08, almost exactly 2 years ago. I feel I deserve to submit an apology to all of you for what has been done and to assure my member brothers that this will never happen again. Along with this apology, I would request all xBhpians to have faith in this edifice that has been as much the result of their efforts and contribution as it has been for us working behind the scenes. Hoping to be pardoned for an inadvertent error and looking forward to a vibrant xBhp once again.

Apology not accepted. Now go and stand in the corner and hand me your bike keys. Or shall I say, fly to Mumbai and give all the members there a big treat.

xBhp is more than just an online forum. Yes, we do need our threads etc to keep in touch and share our stories, bikeing knowledge etc. However I do not think that losing few posts or a thread for that matter can reduce the comradeship we have here. We have picked up after 2008 - better and stronger. I do however feel that regular backups are necessary so that we do not lose out knowledge bank we have generated over here.
