Good to be riding again and this time we decided to hit a unusual route other than ECR - The North madras route to Thalankuppam. Thalankuppam - we haven't hear do this place, lately Manoj and Yuvi had been there and photos were inviting so we decided up for that place. We changed our meeting from our usual Cozee to Light House(Marina) as it makes more sense for this ride.
Sunrise
Light House
Kamarajar Statue
Was ready and hit the roads on early hours from house and reached the meeting point and was searching for a parking when Sriram came in and we both rode further and secured a parking space enough to fit our sbk's which are yet to come. After couple of mins Aargee joined us and soon Pratheep rode in and one by one Raman, Sai and Bharath, Guru (Bharath's frd) grouped up. As we were waiting for couple more to join, we were chitchatting - and we were joined by Sunny on his Ninja. As discussions were going on we had Deepak (from cbe), Praveen Sir and Ananth (finally rode directly from office doing his shift) came in. After some hi's and highflies we started our ride... wait.. wait... something i missed - on all this discussion and waiting going on - me and Raman tried some morning photography :-) also guess the rides for this ride
Ananth - Ninja 250R
Praveen - Thunderbird
Aargee - CB250R
Sriram - Karizma R
Sai - CB250R
Jaffer - FZ16
Bharath - GT650R
Guru - GT650R
Sunny - Ninja650R
Deepak - Pulsar 200(i guess)
Pratheep - R15
n ME - C500
That's a good number of collection to make heads turn and as started our ride from marina it did happen. I was leading the group and soon we crossed the free beach road and entered the narrow roads on the Thiruvatyur road. After couple of kms, we encountered the convey of Trailers parked on the right half of narrow raod, leaving other half for the 2 way traffic. At some places we had to keep following a bus for a km, and somehow we managed our ways and overtook the vechiles. We stopped at a place to enquire on the route for the destination - and proceeded with further with Ananth taking the lead alongwith his GPS. After few kms and many speed breakers we entered the fishing village and as the raods vinded through the village ended up at a deadend. after which we had no roads - parked our bikes and a elderly local guy came up to make sure we aren't gonna have dip in the sea. we confirmed him that we aren't and also asked him whether he can keep an eye on all our bikes which he obliged.
Discussion before the start
Our Parking for the Day
Rusted Iron Pipes
We started our walk over the small sand dunes in the beach and reached the other side of it - which showcased the old pier - which used to be a dry doc. After seeing the pictures we thought it is going to be somewhat like the broken bridge - but it was like a big iron and cement ladder placed across the sea. After placing our helmets and bags in a place which can be viewed by us, me and sunny took the first steps on the pier. we walked on the right side of the pier and there was a guyz who was fishing said that the right will be slippery since water hits mostly on that side, so sunny went to the left side - somehow i was in the right side itself thinking whether to go or not (main reason i dont know swimming

) after few seconds i went uphead and on the other side sunny was complaining saying that the column is getting narrower

we turned back and saw other have safely settled down in the part where the pier meets the sea and discussing. after couple of photos we returned back to the group and sriram started to give a heads-up on the upcoming Oct ride but due to the heat, the waves and also the voice from our empty stomach we couldn't hear anything. we decided to catch up on that during our breakfast. Guess what, we are atleast 15km away from a decent hotel and we need to cross the trailer's convey again.
The Track
Sunny upfront - after that place we returned back :-)
we wrapped our discussion and head to our bikes. enroute i clicked a group foto - jus like the motogp style - Tourers of the 2012 :-).We reached out parking place, and took our bikes and started our return ride for our breakfast. enroute Praveen and Aargee left us as they were taking a different route back home. we face a tough time crossing Ennore and soon we reached the empty burmabazaar for an halt to discuss where to head for breakfast. meanwhile Guru's GT650 was in smoke and it was oil leak which was causing this problem. so he heade home directly and we headed to Saravana Bhavan in RK salai. Being a sunday that place was full and we moved over to New Woodlands on the other side of the road. That place was also full, but the manager was kind enough to open up a new hall for serving we all settled down under the AC for a good breakfast of Idli's, Dosa's and coffee and Pepsi.
Group returning back from pier
Tourer's of 2012 :-)
After gobbling down the food and a small discussion - we headed to the parking place for a catchup on bikes and things. Couple of minutes into discussion, we bid bye's to all and i returned home riding through the sunday traffic - with some satisfaction of doing a good ride (rather a good short ride) after a long time. Also to dust my writing skills
