Default Win Rs.10000 worth gift hampers: Best Motorcycle Blogger: Post your best travelogues!

So you think you are a motorcyclist who knows where to go and how to capture the moments in photos and with captivating text?

You think you can write an interesting enough travelogue of a motorcycle journey that you have done in India?

The deal is simple. You post a travelogue on the xBhp forums in a special section that we have created especially for this between 22nd December 2009 and 28th February 2010 and become eligible to win one of the three gift hampers that we have lined up for you!

Need some inspiration? Head to The Grand New Zealand Roadtrip and see how Sunny posts his travelogues in the upcoming New Zealand Roadtrip.

Now read the directions carefully below, any questions posted to us which are not already answered here will be ignored!

ELIGIBILITY

•Must have an xBhp.com ID. If you don’t have yet, click here to register today and get one!

•Must be over 18 years of age and hold a valid driving license.

•Must not be a xBhp moderator.

•Must be an Indian living in India.

GUIDELINES (READ THESE VERY CAREFULLY!)

•Only roadtrips done in 2009 and 2010 will be accepted.

•The roadtrip must be done in India.

The roadtrip travelogue might already be posted in the xBhp tourer section. But you have to repost it here and make sure it meets all the requirements. Don't copy and paste it. Make it even better than it is!

•The roadtrip must be done on a motorcycle / scooter (Indian or imported).

•One member can post multiple travelogues.

•No helmet less riding photo should be a part of the travelogue.

•No stunts should be a part of the travelogue.

•No derogatory content to any entity or person shall be entertained in the log.

•No links to blogs posted outside of xBhp (on blogspot etc).

•Text: We only will accept travelogues without SMS or slang English. We don’t require you to be a Shakespeare but the English used should be readable. Flowery language and difficult to understand words will not get you more scores from the judges but easy to understand and interesting text definitely will.

•Photographs: We don’t want your photos to be masterpieces. However we don’t want your photos to be blurred and senseless too. Good and relevant photos will definitely work in favour.

•Information: Extra information like route/distance guidelines, places to eat on the way etc, will get you more marks.

METHOD TO POST

•Click on this link to go to the Travelogue Contest Section.

•Click on ‘New Travelogue’ button.

•Have your travelogue prepared in Word with spell checks done.

•DO NOT copy and paste the text directly from MS WORD, it messes up with the formatting. Paste the text first in a blank NOTEPAD and then copy and paste it to the text area.

•Attach all your photos using this attach button or have them uploaded somewhere on the internet. And then link each one of them using [IMG] tags into the text while creating the new thread. Read this link before asking us questions on anything technical which you don’t understand.

•When you are ready with the travelogue, hit the ‘Submit New Travelogue’ button. You will not see the thread immediately because it has entered into the moderation queue and it has to be approved by a moderator.

•At the end of the travelogue include this image:

and link it to this page: How to Vote for the Best Motorcycle Blogger Contest

It is YOUR responsibility to do this and esnure the people reading outside of xBhp know how to vote!

HOW TO GET VOTES FOR YOURSELF?

  • Ensure you follow the guidelines set.
  • Use the following images to post on your FB profiles or elsewhere and link it to your travelogue posted in this section for votes.

JUDGING

Stage 1: the travelogue will first be approved by a moderator if it adheres to all the guidelines set above. If your travelogue is dis-approved, you will be notified why by a Private Message (PM) on xBhp.

Stage 2: The thread will be online and available for member and public voting till 28th Feb 2010. This means that anyone can vote for the thread even if they are not a member of xBhp. Do not try to be smart and vote for yourself multiple times. We will detect any threads which seem to have unusually number of high votes against what the quality of content actually warrants. You are perfectly allowed to popularize your blog and send links to it for people to vote for you (if they like it that is!).
The travelogue can be rated by clicking this button on top right corner of the start of the thread:

Stage 3: The voting phase will close on 28th Feb 2010. A team of xBhp moderators will decide on the final winners based on the number of votes validated against the consensus of the moderators as well. While final judging the moderators will see the following parameters:

  • Flow / text of the travelogue
  • Any additional content
  • Any additional emphasis on safety will earn you more marks
  • Number of votes

Prizes

The three winners will be announced on 10th March 2010. The prizes will reach the wnners by 25th March 2010.

Each gift hamper is worth Rs.10000 and comes with accolades:

I wonder why the travelogue already posted in the tourer section are not permitted. People who tour and regularly post their ride reports in the tourer section within days of ride completion will be the most affected. Someone like me, most of whose threads are ride reports.

@Sunny: Please see if you can make amendments here, if there is room for some that is. Then we could have people voting for those travelogues as well. Just my two cents.

Thanks

Anyway, A wonderful chance for tourers - I'm heading out to the hills this January 2010

Two amendments have been made:
  • The roadtrip travelogue might already be posted in the xBhp tourer section. But you have to repost it here and make sure it meets all the requirements. Don't copy and paste it. Make it even better than it is!
  • One member can post multiple travelogues
