Lightbulb xBhp Suggestion : Add a Technical Section

Lately, we have been seen many posts of technical nature. Most of these threads are scattered across various sections, thus making it difficult to find anything at a glance. Lately, I have seen many threads in the Help Section for the same topic - How to retrofit HID + Projectors. It is tiring for the readers to glean information from all these threads. It is also a problem to reply to the same questions again and again.

I would like to suggest a new Technical Section with subsections like Electricals, Engine, Suspension etc etc. I am sure many others too agree with me.

This thread is to discuss the need of the same.

Interesting suggestion.

I have seen in few other FORUMS having "A collection of Best threads"
in that line we can have "A collection of Technical threads" to make it more organised.
WHAT SAY?

well said abhijeet, even i was wondering about the same, it will ease out things..

a suggestion from my side, "why not have a XBHP helpline number which can be given to members across country, so that incase of breakdowns(while touring), the xbhpian can callout this number and contact nearest xbhpian to his location for help.."

I like the idea. But I see a potential problem here, which IMHO is a common problem in xBhp. I feel that a lot of the threads have a mix of a lot of conversations or sometimes the same things iterated over and over again by different people. (Not intentionally though) The good thing about this is there is more activity and people also feel a bit of familiarity with others. The bad thing is that, if there is useful technical information somewhere in the middle, it gets lost amongst all this noise. Even at some point if we wanted to read through all of this, there would be no flow between posts and we would be left with no other option other than to search.

I'm just wondering if there is a way to solve this. Something that immediately comes to my mind is, vote per post. Instead of voting per thread, people should be able to vote per post. Based on this, we should be able to gather information and suggest to the users on some part of the real estate. I know this is difficult from an implementation perspective. But I just don't want to crib, I want to help.

Think about it...

Nice thought, moreover this should to be moved to Universal threads!

How about the OP or mods editing the first post to point out relevant posts in the thread? It will help others to find the required info.

I agree. It would be a successful section. Secondly, everyone should not have authority to post in it. Only few knowledgeable members like The Mods, Joel, Sir Old Fix, etc.
For others, it should be a read only section, or send a PM to Mods to make a knowledgeable entry...

It should be like an Encyclopedia, and when a member asks for help, post the relevant link to the article ... That's it!

I'm willing to make my contribution. But generally, Xbhp's administration does NOT make changes. A Fact.
But, I'll be happy and surprised both, if proved wrong here.
