Default SMS Boycott!

Happy Deepwali to all fellow bikers on xBhp.

This festive season, including Deepwali, Christmas and New Years eve, do not wish anyone using SMS. Call or visit your loved ones instead. They will value it more than a stupid SMS that is sent to the entire address book so heartlessly.

This will also teach all the cellphone companies a lesson too. They should not increase the SMS rates for the festive days to milk more revenue out of us despite contracts and packages that we avail.

Spread the word my friends.

Off-Topic Discussion Approved.

That is actually what people should do, sir, but it is seldom the case. People just prefer to relax at home, and send a single SMS to EVERYONE, instead! I will confess neither do I go and visit everyone personally, but nor do I send a single message to everyone. Instead, I prefer to call and wish them over the phone, personally. That is, atleast better than the mass SMS thingy!

I agree that it is not feasible to visit everyone or for that matter call them. Humans are designed to interact personally, talk, see, touch, feel etc.. SMS is the worst form of communication.

Most people dont even key in their message, they merely forward something they have received to hundreds of people in their address book! People receiving them also know this and no one values it more than the CELL PHONE COMPANIES.

THink - If evey xBhp member sends 50 SMS to wish their friends, and assuming we are about 14000, that is 50 x 14000 x 2 revenue we all pay to the cellphone companies. Now assume 450 million people (number of users with a connection in India) send an average of 10 SMS to wish their friends and multiply that by 2 which is the cost of the SMS. An awful lot of money down the drain!

Just because I receive a mass SMS does not mean the person sending it even thought about me.

the site doesn't open here, but i am assuming its one of those sites which offer free sms service to any mobile. Be aware of such sites coz they store the numbers used through them and forward it to the companies/organizations looking for tele-marketing, without the consent of the owner

Happy diwali everyone.

PS: Is increasing the sms rates in festival season, a just in trend by companies? never heard of it until now but if its true then that's plain rubbish. I still doubt that the new year smses get delivered within a day.
