Default Calamity stikes Leh! Let's do something for our Dream destination.

The unfortunate heavy Downpour and resultant flash flood is no more a news that any of us would be unaware, however, for the information of those who somehow dint hear about it, please refer to this:

Flash flood hits Leh

Our heartfelt condolences to all of those who suffered and I know no amount of words can bring them solace. People have lost great deal, and it might take some time for the life in Leh to get back to normal.

I am sure the place is a dream destination for most of the Touring enthusiasts for it offers almost everything one can ask for. I was planning to go to Leh this September but owing to the conditions, I just might not go. But I propose that xBhp being a group with a cause, should step forward and lets do something for the region.

The contribution can be anything: Food, clothes, medicines, money. Something that we think will be good for the people in need.

I would like the front runners of the forum to think about it and come up with something that proves that we have a heart too inside the armour jacket.

I am going to send clothes, shoes, medicines and some money towards the victims. How are my mates going to help me with this?

dcs

P.S: Lets not elongate the thread unnecessarily. Some thing done creative is better than saying- Oh Wow or Oh So Sad

Commendable effort there DCS, really appreciated.

I am there with you on this and i am sure we'll see a lot of helping hands from the community.

Let us discuss here the different alternatives so that resources generated here can reach the victims of this tragedy quickly and effectively.

Topic approved.

Sunil, can we collect the stuff from our mates, load it in a truck, dispatch the truck and send few of the distinguised xBhpians to ensure that the stuff gets into the right hands.

Despite the fact that the heart cries out for the people who are suffering, am sure, there still are few who are planning to make it big at this unfortunate times also. Hope you got my point.

I'm short on Moolah, but I'm willing enough to donate some almost new clothing. For the Hospitality they've shown us travellers over the years, I for one think It's time we give something back to them.

Do we have a website or a group we could approach? A brilliant Initiative from dcs, would love to see many more like minded people coming together for a cause...

Thanks dcs for this, I am already working on this... and like said before, my one day salary is pledged for it.

I will also circulate the news around and probably flag a ride for collecting money.

Cheers!

Here's a facebook page, so that we reach far and wide.

Leh, with a cause

I am not sure how this works, but I hope wish and pray that this works out.

Hi DCS,

A very thoughtful step that you've taken up. In fact me and Shivanshu were discussing on similar lines when he came up with such an idea.

I am deeply saddened by the turn of events, especially at the place where I have thought of going time and again, almost like a pilgrimage to me!

I believe we should have a common G2G in different cities wherein members can come in and contribute. The total can be deposited in one account and a cheque can be issued in favor of say the MC of Leh. Just a thought

Or perhaps a volunteer from xBhp can go there and support the cause, all hand over the cheque to the concerned authority. If we can support for a cause, this is the biggest of them all!

Do let me know how things shape up. I know a few people there who can be the right people to submit our contributions..
