This thought suddenly flashed across after watching an archived episode of a program called 'Neeya Naana' in a Tamil channel. It is posted in a thread here as well.
xBHP as a community is doing a lot of nice things to position biking as a lifestyle, promote safe riding and help the bikers unite, share their knowledge and passion. Some of the people on the community are having in depth knowledge in various areas that are needed for a happy biker like mechanics of the bike, touring, photography etc. It is through this forum I understood the importance of riding gears. I got myself a riding gloves and it has saved me from having a torn palm once. Thanks to xBHP for that. I have noticed in a few threads that most of us are not sure about certain road rules or feel harassed by certain cops. We do express our anger on such threads. But wouldn't it help if we can get a few cops on board the community? It will be an invaluable step in promoting safe biking to a great extent. Next time when we look at a cop, we won't feel disgusted or feel like they are some beasts found by their parents in some wretched place made solely for fleecing motorists. There are a few instances of police trying to open up FB pages or commissioners saying police needs to be more people friendly. Wouldn't it be much better if we can get some cops on board here? It is a great benefit for both sides. Think about it. I know that it is not a simple task. It is very tough. But this if this is done, then I am sure xBHP will have a much bigger impact on the society in a very good way. We have someone from the Army here. We have doctors, engineers, mechanics, economists, marketing officers, designers, business men and many others united by a sense of good biking. Why not some cops? Don't any one know a friend who is a cop somewhere in the country? What do you guys say?

The idea is noble, Harish.
But implementation is tricky. You can call your cops friend in their personal capacity, but to expect them to be officially present here would be a tough; thanks to generally non-geeky nature of our cops. For example, the Delhi Police's FB page - All they do there is copy and paste some previously written answer to people's query. Ask them anything that is slightly out of their syllabus, they'll show their true colors. And we have enough threads already on xBhp where we have discussed legal issues in detail and lot of knowledgeable members have replied there. so i don't think we'll achieve something groundbreaking with having cops on board, but it would surely help. Also the forum is open for anyone to join; be it politicians, cops, scientists, or army personnel. They can join and contribute whenever they want to. We can't force anybody to join. Its already in place, but not specific to xBhp - Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More
Likewise, its available for Hyderabad & IIRC, Delhi too. Just check out the nonsense comments posted over there; people start complaining from their neighborhood issues to lane jumps & is in the verge of misuse.

Ya man. I have been following their various FB pages. The non-geeky nature and how people start complaining like a MTC bus stopped in a wrong place or how traffic jam irritates is kinda funny. What is even more funny is how they do a copy paste reply. But just inviting our cop friends not in their official capacity would be nice. They need not post anything related to rules or anything. They can post on anything they feel like. But just the feeling that we have some cops among us creates a better sense of friendliness towards them. Also we feel kinda proud too.
Some threads are in the grey area. But we should be able to work something out right? I mean, all these things on the forum are publicly available to cops too even now.

Question to you - how many hours are you able to spend on xBhp everyday...consistently?

Reason is because, that's not the same time our cop friend will spend the time here. Which means, they can login for 24-10-8 hours, which is 6 hours. Now that's excluding any personal work of theirs.
Effectively it would be about an hour everyday. And when all of us know its a cop who's answering behind this, they're bound to get atleast 10 PM's everyday & several questions on the thread, not to mention OT's ![]() The point is that, the cop should be equally passionate about motorcycling & most importanly be WILLING to participate in the open discussion. I'd certainly agree with sunilg here for... Quote:
