Default Polaris ATV Test Drive Faridabad/NCR

And yours truly was there to test a few machines... The North India Dealership has been taken by a very close family friend. Gotta get the dust and dirt out of me right now...

For the UN-initiated heres a link on Polaris ATVs. Largest manufacturer in the world.

Polaris ATV, RANGER, Snowmobiles, Victory Motorcycles Website

Oh and yeah the cheapest is around 4L! most expensive at 22L!!!! I drove the 14L model. There was a complete track about 1.2 kms long laid out for testing the capabilities of the machine.

4x4, Auto transmission, Disc brakes, independent suspension, Power steering!!! Makes for a potent machine. Up a hill in High gear, and floor it, the beast lifts the front up!!!

The track. Lots of turns, Enjoyed drifting and letting the rear hang out.. Opposite lock is a breeze with the power steering... I took the steering wheel ATV, not the handlebar kind.

The line up. Mine was the second one. the one in red.

Thats my 9 year old niece on the smaller one...

From my POV its very expensive,is it because it is imported?

I guess its better to make a mini-buggy rather than shelling 4L for it?
Even if we buy a brand new nano and rip apart every part needed? it will be cheap I guess! isnt it?

Yes it is... Starting from 4 Lakhs, all the way to 22Lakhs. The one i was riding was around 14Lakhs or something ( Two seater buggy 800cc engine ).

Oh yeah, The main track was hidden behind the greenery, with a few hairpins, some chicanes, couple of hills, an inclined section etc. Went airborne twice!!!

Looks like you'd so much of fun Prince Tks for sharing the pics. BTW, do write a review on your experience.

ya, ATV's are a fun thing to ride, can ride to most difficult of the places. well, it was just a half hour ride, will be taking a 500 CC one for a jungle trail in couple of weeks...till then a few things i noted.-
  • ATV's are real fun vehicles and can go almost everywhere.
  • anything less than 300 CC is not fun to ride. i rode smaller capacity ones also, but 250 CC and below just lacks power and are for beginners, childrens or for fair sex ( pardon me for that)
  • ATV's lack speed, and if you are on a flat patch and want to go faster. it isn't an option.
  • it has only 2 gears- forward, reverse and ofcourse neutral
  • gears are not handle mounted but instead they are floor mounted -just like four wheelers ....and placed between riders legs.
  • the headlights sucks bigtime.
  • the accelarator is not controlled by your wrist -but by your thumb.
  • it takes 5-10 mins to get used to riding ATV's when you ride it for first time, as you are not supposed to keep your feet on ground if the vehicle banks on one side -as a bike rider will tend to do--instead you have to balance your body weight.
  • steering also feels a lot heavy initially and it takes some time to get used to it - and you have to use a fair amount of power sometimes to steer it.
  • there are no controls for your feet or legs or no pedals except one emergency brake- which is to be used only in rare emergency situations.
