Here's a nice tutorial on how to do it: Update Galaxy S i9000 to Gingerbread 2.3.4
Here's a link to all firmware that's Samsung: Samfirmware - i9000

And if you want to root it: Darky's Extreme Edition 10.1

I have made a tutorial here

NDRIVE OUT for BADA - Bada Apps & Games - Page 2

Check it out and let me know.

Edit: Oops! I guess this will work only on Wave 1 and 2

Sure, btw-the phone is Nexus S, not Nexus One. Also request you to look into LG Optimus Black, after seeing my comments below. I will be buying tomorrow or day after mostly.
Appreciate if you can do a comparo also between the 2. For a techie like you, I think the 1st thing you notice is Nexus runs on a 1 Ghz Hummingbird processor, whereas Optimus Black runs on OMAP360 chipset.

Buy The LG Optimus Black For Rs 19,990
Thanks a lot buddy, my friend was also telling me the same thing yesterday.
The first thing I noticed about LG Optimus Black was the form factor-I was like wow! Anyway...
As of now, the drawbacks I can find with Nexus S are:
1. No dedicated video player (can be downloaded)
2. No DivX/XVid support out of the box (can be downloaded)
3. No dedicated camera button
4. No 720p HD video recording (may be fixed with next update)
5. No FM radio
6. No expandable memory (comes with 16GB on board)
7. No HSDPA support

The advantages with LG Optimus Black being:
1. WiFi direct (don't know how that works)
2. NOVA display with 700 nits of brightness, supposedly even brighter than iPhone which is 500 nits (cannot comment on that since I haven't experienced it)
3. Expandable memory upto 32GB (I will have to purchase a card separately since it is coming only with 2GB)
4. 2 mp front cam
5. DivX/XVid support out of the box
6. good video player
7. FM radio
8. HSDPA/HSUPA support

The main disadvantages being:
1. Comes with Android Froyo, instead of Gingerbread (LG says the update is coming in July)
2. It is an LG phone!

I would like to receive your comments about the above mentioned disadvantages&especially, it would be very helpful if some owner using this phone can comment on the durability etc. since I am very impressed by the specs, but it takes a really hard thought to put down 20K+ on an LG phone!

I love it...
So what am I supposed to infer from these 2 comments?

Use screen protector from Gadgetshieldz; military grade, highly scratch resistant. Application is a painful process though.

I have got full-body screen protector from ZAGG InvisibleShield. After seeing the application process, i have been delaying the process for the last 15 days (I have to switch off the phone for 24 hours after the application).

I also got body case for my SGS from OTTERBOX; superb casing.

+1 on usage of GadgetShieldz... serious high quality stuff, i got it on my SGS2 and can vouch for it.
Also, the application process is not as cumbersome as the manual says so, u needn't switch off the phone for 24hours, if u carefully apply it and make sure no soap water goes inside. I switched on my phone in a couple of hours after application and do not see any issues in anyone doing so, unless the soap solution enters inside, which is a different story altogether..

Better be careful than sorry later. If you use the phone before 12-24 hours of application, the chances of improper application of screen is high.

The 24 hour deadline, is only to make sure that if any soap solution has entered the body, to let it dry up... but if u r very careful and ensure nothing goes in, u can start using the phone in 1-2hours..

Also wat i meant was, dont start using the phone extensively immediately after applying, but u can switch it on so tat u dont miss any important calls..

I am planning to apply this weekend. I got a spare mobile and use meanwhile. I have spent 1000 bucks for the ZAGG InvisibleShield, and I do not want to take any tiny chance.

Just be extra careful while applying on the sides ,top where there are slots for sensor's, volume/power buttons. too much of soap solution and it may drip into the holes there and too little and it would stick too soon leaving very little time to place it perfectly.

Dip the shield in soap solution ever so lightly place it on the mobile and once u r satisfied with the alignment press it a couple of times and then wait for sometime before u apply the next piece..
