I have nothing more to say, really. I came back last night at about 10:30pm, and this morning at about 7:30am or so when I went downstairs, she wasn't there!

The cover of the bike was lying on the road, and the Pulsar-200 was gone! It had just been 6 months or so that I had got the bike, which had run just about 8000kms. I am sad, and upset over this, but more than that I am really mad at these anti-social elements.

I also went to the Police station to file a complaint. The attitude of those who are supposed to be With Us, For Us - Always shocked me. They said they would conduct a two day "enquiry" into the matter, and issue an FIR only after that. They were also saying - Jo hona tha woh toh ho gaya, ab kya kar saktey hai" (Whatever had to happen has happened, there is nothing you could do). This is their attitude! Bravo.

Anyhow, I am waiting for this 'two day period' to be over, and once I get the FIR report, I'll apply for the insurance and whatever else that would be required to claim the bloody insurance. I'll keep updating this thread with whatever happens with this 'case'. I really don't see any hope whatsoever of getting back my machine though.

P.S: Meanwhile, if someone could be kind enough to help me out regarding how to go about claiming insurance in case of a theft (like in my case), then I would really be thankful to him/ her.

Real late last night at around 2am or so my next door neighbour rings the door bell. I get up from the bed (I wasn't asleep) and open the door. He told me that he had just received a telephone call on his landline from the Rajouri Garden area Police station. The voice on the other side of the phone mentioned that a motorcycle - Bajaj Pulsar 200, blue, registration number - DL-6S AC-0422 has just been recovered from that area.

So, this morning after calling the IO (Investigating Officer), I show up at the Police station at Inderpuri since the IO had asked me to go and meet the officer-in-charge at the Inderpuri Police station. As soon as I entered the Police station premises, from afar I see the glowing white "X" sign evedent on the back of a Pulsar-200! I was instantly excited, because I knew it was my machine that I was staring at from afar.

I go inside, and tell the whole incident of the phone call to the Officer-in-charge. He asks me to go out and have a look at the vehicle, whether everything is in order or not. I rush out, and check my bike. Everything seems to be okay except two things:
1. The RVMs are gone.
2. The lock set is not working. Hence, the bike is obviously not starting.

I go in, and the Officer-in-charge asks me to write an application directed at the SHO of the Inderpuri Police station mentioning that the motorcycle has been found and that I am taking ownership back of the machine. I do the same, and give the application to him.

Uptil now, I was really wondering how come the so called 'saviors' of the society haven't even asked for a penny. Just when I was about to be thankful to the great Police department for their commendable job, pat came the words out of the Officer-in-charge's mouth: "We have spent Rs.750/- to bring your bike from Rajouri Garden Police station to this station. Please do pay that, and the rest chai-paani is upto you..." I obviously get the drift, but since I really am not familiar with all the intricies of our "law and order" department, and also because I was just a little pissed off with all that had transpired since the past couple of days, I ask bluntly - "Just tell me how much do you want 'sir', and let me get over with this, shall we, "PLEASE" "?

He was at first taken a little aback, but eventually the gorilla did open his mouth! Not going into any more details, I had to pay Rs.2800/- to get the bike from the Police station. This after taking him to the nearest tea stall where he had a cup of hot, steaming tea coupled with two hot and fresh samosas...

Anyhow, I am not really worried about all that has happened in the Police station. I am grateful to the Police department for a change, that atleast I have got my blue babe back.

Now, what I am absolutely clueless about is - the handle lock is in the 'Locked' position, then how did they take away the bike? The electricals has not been tampered with, that I can clearly see. Even though the handle lock is in the 'locked' position, the handle is turning both left and right, quite freely albeit a little difficulty.

Okay now a few queries. If someone could help me please, I would be really grateful.

1. I am not able to unlock the bike with the real key. I mean the handle lock is in 'Locked' position. How the hell do I unlock it? I mean, I am sure the lock-set is gone. But if I am not able to start it, how would I take it to the service station?

2. How can I keep her secured? I don't stay in a house where I could get my own little, sweet and secure parking space. So, I HAVE to park the bike in the road side only. Can I use chains or something similar to tie the bike or something probably?


Whatever has ensued during the past two days has left me mentally absolutely fu"c"ked up! But atleast at the end of the day, my machine is back where it belongs.

All said and done, I am thankful to the Police department without whose help I wouldn't have ever been able to even see my machine back again, let alone get it. And finding a stolen machine within 24hours is something which I for one NEVER even thought was possible!

it's as important to lock the gate as it is to lock the bike. Just speak to the insurance ppl and they should guide you with the required steps. But it is important to inform them immediately.

@Sherry: Yes, I knew their attitude would be like this. But I just went there since this is the 'procedure' to be followed.

@Archibaby: I would be informing the insurance guys tomorrow, as today is Sunday.

One more thing .. the police will try to not give you a FIR but it is a must for you and should be dated the day of the theft. That two day thing is shit and you should make sure you get it today. The easiest (and most probably only) way is to try and get some person in the police to speak to them.

Oh yeas aryan.. we have to follow all the procedures even when we know these people are least interested in justifying their salaries.

Try to call ur insurance company today as well. I'm sure they'll have some call center or any office which is open even on Sunday's for such incidents.

Oh man!!!! I express my concern over the loss of your 200 ..... For us bikers the bike means a lot more than just insurance claims I pray that you will get your bike back......

Yes, I do understand this two day crap they they gave me is nothing but shit, but I tried getting the FIR today itself. They just would not budge! Anyhow, when I do get the FIR receipt, I would ofcourse make sure the date is mentioned as today (the date of theft) and not the date/day on which the FIR was registered.

As for someone inside the Police force talking to them, unfortunately, I don't know anybody from the force who would perhaps ask them to give me the FIR ASAP!

Wow! that is really sad to hear.

I guess it has to be someone from the neighbourhood as these are the ppl who knows its a new bike. Anyother bikes touched?

Getting the bike maybe really difficult. Even if you get the bike u never know what has been done to it.
