Default iCrash!

Ladies and Gentlemen! Add to the Great Mumbai Crash List 2009!

I usually seem to have a crash every year just to ensure that I dont forget the art of falling...
So this is this years quota (hopefully)!

Yesterday I decided to pimp up my R15, so replaced all the scratched parts and all with brand new ones.... I did a cheap mod... got the Red fiber covers! (the net cowl at 260 each!)
Now the R15 was really a looker in this Black-Red combo!
Plus I also replaced the front Disc Pads.... all and all a damage of about 1800!

Today morning on my daily 'mumbai darshan commute' (fk it deserves a new thread) I met a complete jackass!
Fudge!

I had these vibes to today being weird! Infact while riding, I saw a couple on a old and trusted RX and the girls duppatta dangling around the rear wheels!
I zipped ahead and signaled the guy but he picked it as a race! He must have thought I am mocking him...! I went close to him and lifted my lid and said him what the problem was, and then he suddenly became a nice guy and thanked me!

About 600 Meters ahead is the "Brhamand Signal", where I crashed!
Now those of all who know this route, this is a tricky one.... refer the attachment.... this one of those blind spot turn.
Attachment 7970

So as usual I went slower.... and a bit away from the extreme right lane which I usually take so as to give me some time in case someone decides to jump the signal, or if some jaywalker turns up! Only this time there was a guy hiding for me! (for ease of addressing, I prefer to call him Mr. JA- No not JA as in John Abraham, but JA as in Jackass)

My trajectory was simple, but Mr. JA decided to jump the signal. I dont know what he was doing but possibly he wanted to go on the wrong side of the road! So I pumped the front and rear disc but all happen too quick.... the life ahead was in flashes....
I see my self doing a small rolling stoppie!
I try to keep the bike to the left to be able to miss him!
Mr. JA now realises what he did and tries to correct himself and sways to Left!
In those microseconds, I pumped the brake hard and do a bigger stoppie!
I try to bring the bike down but the its too late, I didnt want to crash into him, but the stoppie grew big and I couldnt let go the bike and I fell!
I look up and see Mr. JA going ahead.... he stops looks back and what happened and CONTINUES RIDING! Bl00dy hell!

Attachment 7971

The rest of the folks behind catches up, luckily I made some friend when I told that couple about the hazard.... they came, helped me back on my feet... so was another rider who saw it all happen.... Mr. Javed Khan, who accompanied me to the hospital. (THANKS!)

Damage done
Self:
Bruise on Left Thigh
Bruise on Left Ankle
Possible Broken Nose
Some pain in Right Shoulder

Bike:
Left RVM!
Left Tail Body all scratched up!
Left FootPegs Rider and Pillion
Grab Rail...
A slight tear on the seat...

Other Damage:
My Gun Metal Fossil has both its connectors to the strap broken!
My Cross (white) helmet Chin cracked.... the visor had some scratches....
My Shift Mesh Jacket, has a hole near the chest where it houses my old iPod!
My trusty DSG Primal has the carbon knuckles ruptured on the left hand!
My iPod metal case has some scratches....
My freaking arrow trousers is useless now!
My Freaking Giordano Tee Shirt has a hole, thanks to the belt I was wearing!
My Puma socks :P
And one uncles Old Hanky which was cream when handed to me, but ended up being RED!!!! yeow!!!

Things I learnt:
- It is ok if people think you are a poser riding fully kitted.... incidents\accident like these helps you realize why they are good!
If it wasnt for my helmet, I am sure I would have been knocked out cold by that impact! Imagine a crack Jaw bone!

- Be good to people: You never know how it may help you!

- No more riding without the Knee Guards, even if it soils the trousers!

- Time to invest in good riding boots.... Office shoes dont protect the Ankle....

- When riding, expect the unexpected ( I usually do, but then this was too good for me!)

PS: Why were you asking about the cleaning of air/oil K&N filter ?? Is it something related to your i-crash ??

Thanks Kriss!
My R15 runs on a K&N Air Filter, courtesy a friendly guy from Yamaha who messed my stock Air Filter
Thanks for your replies though~!
I messaged 4-5 people, and all gave a different answer....

Diff answer ??

An airfilter can be cleaned and used.. But i never saw or never experienced anywhere about cleaning an oil filter and reusing it.

But again everything depends on its lifecycle.

Shit Happens Bro . I too had several incidents while commuting to office and every incident taught me something, most importantly never to ever think I am invincible. Good that you had all kinds of protection...wrt to riding of course . Get well soon .

Yeah I know.... I wouldnt completely call it 'no' fault of mine though! I should have expected Signal jumpers from the blind turn too! Man I think I will end up being a paranoid rider if I ride more in India

Thank you! My Office Commute is 60KM one way with
8 KM Bad-Poor village-city roads
18~20 KM National highway
8~10 KM Ghats!
15 Odd KM Express Way
12 Odd KM Open City Street!
So protection is a MUST! I never think I am invincible.... usually keep a cool head...!
