P180 UG4 is a full DC, so no changes in wiring as it can handle an HID without any batt issues. If u have any plans to go for a higher watt halogen only other mods required. There are mainly two types of HID installations like in anyother bulbs, First is HID conversion Kit, it can be directly fitted to the stock reflectors and if u've more weight on ur wallet go for the second type , projectors which will offer a good beam spreads on low beams with min glare to on coming traffics. Normal conversion kits are more cheaper than HID projectors as it starts from 1.5K onwards ofcourse a cheap chinese one, so go for anything falls between 2.5-5K will give u more life span of the lighting system. Light intensity will be more for this as there's no glare cut off sheild in reflectors so u can enjoy the rides at the cost of others happiness ![]() This is a HID Conversion Kit for bikes ![]() And this is the HID bulb illustrates how it performs the dual beam function with a single bulb by the help of a solenoid. Behind the HID , normal halogen bulb ![]() This is how an HID wiring ![]() More info for pros and cons of HIDs on reflectors? Good Sealed Beam for HID Projectors are really amazing in their perfo especially low beams, but it cost like hell. Range starts from 6K onwards from the accessory shops. If u r lucky, u can get a car projector from junk yards and put a suitable conversion kit for that, but it requires lot of time and skill to get it finished. U can refer Shree's projector mods for Uni on this . INSTALLED PROJECTORs on MY UNICORN Hope this will clarify everything, if not, come back we all are here to help u

Wow nice thread.
I believe HIDs work only on DC and my Fiero is AC i guess. Is it absolutely not possible to fit HID on AC? What kind of battery drain is expected if i run the HID on DC? I don't want 1 hour or 2 hour duration. It should be like fit it forget it. Most of my riding is at night. BTW, i already have a P220 projector fitted in and working brilliantly. Its Low beam only. Friends keep telling me to put in an HID. So just contemplating. What are the alternatives for a High Beam from an auxiliary lamp. I noticed most of these autos having small round lamps. They look pretty bright, but how good is the beam, What are its specs? any idea?

Need options for High Beam, which would not involve me converting to DC, cos thats something i am not interested in.

P220 lens is a low beam projector, and results are very impressive, for the high beam u can use the spots like the one u've mentioned. Am using it just for the flashing purpose, but beam spread is too narrow. Also u can opt for car fogs is the best, as the beam spread is very wide but wont go far, thats the limitation. If u can find a dedicated HB sealed beam like in P220 its the best. Hey, why dont u post some pics of ur projector mod? Quote:

I don't have any pics of fitting it and all, but yes, i have a couple of pics where you can see the Projector inside the Dome. Shall hunt for it and post. Quote:
All i need at this point of time is a High Beam. A beam that's almost parallel to road, does not spread too much and is bright. That's it.
