Default Calling Karizma Owners!

Please post ...

a) Date Accquired.
b) Kms covered.
c) Fuel Efficiency.
d) Problems (if any) faced.

I'll go first...

a) Aug 5th 2003
b) 20000+ kms
c) min achieved-28 max achieved 50... consistently giving 40+ kmpl.
d) Flasher switch gaves problems. needed to be oiled. Also nearly all the karizma's I've seen, seem to emit quite a bit of noise from the chain.

my bike's carb also need's to be cleaned. it's suffering from fuel starvation at high speeds ....

update: so far, bikes had 3 punctures, cam chain tensioner replaced under warranty. speedo / odo went bad. fixed under warranty. one of the rear brake lights has gone bad. need to replace next time.

changed air filter at the 15k mark. still running the same spark plug. disc pads were changed after the ladakh trip. were completely worn out.

for the guys who have done mods, please alo post whether the merits/de-merits of the new part over the stock part ... for e.g. if you got new tyres, please post whether there was an improvement in grip, mileage etc ... this will really make this thread useful.

1. Change-over to Michelin rear tyre :
[u]Merits :</u>

Imporved straight line braking. Better grip on dry surfaces than the stock Zapper. Better fuel effiency with this tyre even though the contct patch is more than that of the Zapper, maybe because of the soft tyre compound that makes the tyre a lot lighter than the Zapper.

[u]Demerits :</u>

I know most of u will disagree, but as far as I'm concerned the Zapper has the best wet weather stability I have ever experienced. So the demerit for the Michelin would be its wet road stability, I still prefer the zapper over the michelin tyre for wet road.

2. Removal of chain cover :

[u]Merits :</u>

Can't call it a merit as such, cause I HAD to remove it to properly fit in my new tyre. Gives the bike that sweet sound of a fast running chain, similar to the Eliminator of any big bike that uses a chain.

[u]Demerits :</u>

Need to get the chain lubricated every month as all the dust and dirt clogs it up.

3. Replacement of the headlamp bulb and pilots with white ones :

[u]Merits :</u>

Adds that great white beam to the headlamp making the already great head-turner turn more heads even at night. Good focus and power. White pilots compliment the neon bulb very nicely.

[u]Demerits :</u>

The neon being a 100W bulb takes up a lot of battery. And to use it to its fulest potential I may need to put a relay for it.
