The microcontroller would be programmed. The eeprom would be storing the variable values. In our case the odo reading. Upon shorting the reset pin with ground there will be a pulse (square wave) generated to reset the counter. I dont think there is any risk. But its data sheet is huge & iam not able to understand that properly.!

Are you talking about the screws on the console just below the indicators, or the bolts inside that hold the whole headlight assy?

I don't think loosing any default values, is bothersome. But loosing the console is something.

Yes, I'm talking the former ones. The bolts inside, that holds the whole assy. That helps in opening the dome, and it rests only on two bolts remaining below, which can also be removed if you plan to remove the whole dome, and that would much better idea anyway.

That is where my problem is, those bolts are obstructed by the console body. I use a ring spanner. I don't think a T would fit either. I can remove the bottom two.

When i pull the console up to expose those bolts it gets blocked by the handle bar assy. and the dome fairing.

You need to pull up Cosole + black plastic cover for few moments, and use a T spanner to open bolts. After that the whole dome will start leaning and then you can easily pull the speedo. However the indicators wires needs to be disconnected, else they will a problem.
