Default Honda Unicorn headlights change

hello fellas,

I have a Honda Unicorn 2007 Grand Prix edition model. I feel the headlights are kinda dim and not so helpful during nights. I want to replace them with newer ones.

Present ones : Halogen 12V -7AH 35/35w

1)Is there a good choice in the same 35/35W range ?

2)If the only option is to upgrade to 60/55W, what are

a) the risks if I upgrade in terms of bike maintenance

b)which manufacturer/model to choose (OSRAM/Philips/Halonix)

I live in Hyderabad and it would be great if you can point me to any good local mechanic in this field.

Thanks a bunch.

Yes, only in HID

Ensure that the coil rewinding guy should have something in his head. Take it to a competent auto electrical guy & get the rewinding done. Hope you know the process.

All 3 are good. There's a 60/55 that is available for cars these days, not sure if its called Philips Xtreme H4. Costs about Rs 800-1000 for a pair & throws almost white light. In this case, you can opt to change the holders to ceramic which sustains hear very well.

Why would one want to change the motorcycle to DC for 60/55? This is done only when the headlights are to be changed for HID/BiXenons. For a regular 60/55, coil rewinding & changing RR unit will sufficient.

Well, what other part runs on Ac apart from the headlights and console lights?I was saying this for ape specific RR.

From my understanding APE's RR is used mainly for HID setup. Is there something wrong?

I know except headlights & a single filament on tail lamp runs on A/C. But my point is, unless one is changing to HID, why should one unnecessarily change the complete motorcycle to DC setup that too for a 60/55?

Actually rewinding + RR unit change is enough to convert a motorcycle to DC. Only thing is what RR unit to use and how the rewinding is done - it is much better to get it done for DC instead of AC.

For using HID on Unicorn, rewinding is not really necessary until and unless you ride for more than 3 hours daily in bumper to bumper traffic. If the battery is healthy then only RR swap to APE's should do the job.

For 55/60w, DC conversion is not mandatory but no harm doing bcz u will get flicker free light. But here rewinding is mandatory

HI All
As we already have this thread, not creating a new one for my query

This is the fourth time my headlight cowl has cracked (could be because of potholes or vibration in the fairing)
And i'm sick of it now. This was the 3rd headlight cowl in the last 2 years and 2nd in the last 6 months.

Now i want to know, What other option do it have. I don't want to change the look drastically.
Are the last gen Unicorns headlight cowl sturdier then this?

Note:- There are practicaly no potholes on the road i ride.
