Default Hero Puch / Hero Turbo

Guys

Hope you all would remember about a exotic bike which did wonders Hero Turbo / Hero Puch from the steed of Hero...I was owning one for a long time during my college days...not able to see even a single piece on any roads....any views about this bike...your ownership experience if any. I felt that was a strong bike which had good pulling capacity even with triples it would go at the same speed the only issue was that you have to turn around the bike to even change a clutch cable...

Mods - Pls approve

Yes, back in my college days one of my friend used to have it and we used to have a lot of fun on it. It sure had a peppy engine and one of the sticker on the body read "Porsche design". Was it the engine? Or the entire package?

They had quiet some model in it. First was the 2-speed, then there was also the turbo with mag wheels and 3-speed and later on even a few automatic.

My mechanic had worked with Hero in those days and was a specialist with the Puch and until a few years back infact even today its only at his place that I get to see an occasional puch of a few of his old customers that come in for service. He still has a couple of wall papers of the Puch in his garage and one also of the entire engine blown with each and every single part details.

I even remember seeing the Puch's race on dirt tracks in the upto 80cc category and they sure did blaze the tracks for their size.

They are so very fuel-efficient too - most of them returned well over 60-65kmpl. Sad that they don't make such things any more.

For that matter Shahrukh Khan used to promote Hero Puch in the Nineties.

My first bike used to be the Hero Puch, way back in 1990 . It was one heck of a machine, wheelies at the drop of a hat and an average of over 70 at any moment of time. It could easily take 2 guys to mussoorie from my place in Doon without missing a beat. I had it till 97 and covered over 80K kms on it before I sold it to a close friend. He then used it for 2 years and then gave it to his younger brother who also used it till 2003 or so, if I am not mistaken.

Ahem ahem !! The bike which every one who owned would love for sure. Loved the peppy engine but the headlights were pathetic to the core. IIRC it was yielding me 85+kmpl

I still see lots of Puch's on streets of Mysore with moded exhausts. They sound as thou they are ripping over 100kmph
