Smile No-maintainance to full-maintainance upgrade...

hey guys, i am currently using my good old Hero Honda CD100SS and on 1st February 2011, I'll be getting my new ride, Bajaj Pulsar 220 dtsi, not the street fighter edition... however i have a few queries...

1) I always knew the two P220s were P220f and P220sf but when i got the quotation i realized they were P220s and P220sf... could anyone please throw some light as to what dis 's' and 'sf' stand for as the pbk people refer to the fairing model as P220sf which i though was P220f, and the 220 streetfighter as P220s...

2) I know of a Kolkata based automobile engineer who has modded his Bajaj Pulsar 150(spoke and wolf headlight series), tvs fiero, bajaj discover 135 and his latest addition includes Bajaj Pulsar 220 dtsi... His modifications include supercharger, turbo-cooling and many more stuff which i don't know... i just know his fiero tops 150kmph and fteched him a mileage around 80-85kmpl in city conditions... He says that Bajaj dtsi 10000 is the worst engine oil and it has led many new pulsars to undergo serious engine damages and also that if i want to fill my new p220 engine with different engine oil like motul semi-synthetic or synthetic during free servicing, my bike warranty will be considered null and void... is it so? what do i do in that case?

3) I had read somewhere that pulsar220 dtsi has four tire options, namely eurogrip, mrf nylozapper, irc and mrf nylozapper vyde. I wanted to have the MRF Nylozapper Vyde but pbk says there's only MRF Nylozapper and IRC as rear tire options. Which is true?

4) I heard pulsar220 dtsi has some starting problems, what do i do in-case i suffer something similar? And as people say, in the morning we should turn the choke on, make a kick start and then after that can use the self start the whole day. Well p220 doesn't have a kick as we all know so what will be the appropriate process of starting after a long cold night halt?

5) I also heard pulsar220 dtsi has a major problem with its main stand, heard it gets slammed to the round while cornering. How can i rectify the problem without getting it removed completely?

6) I would seriously want to hear of the DOs and DON'Ts for my new bike. Specially for Pulsar220sf dtsi...

Thank you guys!!!

Will wait for your valuable advice...

thanks sunil. Actually the point is since i have zero expirience about maintaining performance bikes, i need all of your valuable comments. Please help me out mates. Initially i was considering karizma considering the reliability and engine refinement advantages, but the how could i avoid the mouth watering features that pulsar220dtsi has and karizma doesn't? Better lighting, clipons, wider tires, digital meter, so many stuff with a price tag less than karizma. So guys please help me with good guidance and useful tips. My preferences are not speed, but trouble-free ride with an acceptable fuel economy. Thanks guys. Take care.

Haha...that youv'e to decide based on your needs. There're several things that goes in choosing a ride (unlike a decade old ago) other can cost & power.

Select based on how you're going to use, what's your riding style, where you'll be taking it, what's the need & so on.

From what I see all over, there's only 220 & 220F where F stands for Fairing. But from your statement, SF seems to be Street Fighter.

But my question is, how does that even matter? If you've decided to buy, the simplest way is to go to the showroom, point your fingers at the one you want to buy . What's the confusion

come on buddy what would you have chosen?
Karizma-reliability, long lasting, comparatively hassle-free, engine-refinement, good ergonomics.
versus
Pulsar220dtsi-fat tires, 55w lights, clip-ons, rear disks, less expensive and easily available spare parts cost, digital console.

My criteria is decent mileage, good features.

actually wanted to know the full name just out of interest. and its 220s and 220sf, that's what pbk says. what pbk offiicials are saying is 220s means 'street fighter' and the one i want to buy is the 220 that comes with a 'f' written on it... i always knew it means 'faired' but on they claim it to be 220sf and not 220f, which means 'short fairing'... weird and confusing... i tried Googling this confusion and guess what, not even Google has this answer... lol...
