i didn't test the 100w hid until the alternator was fixed up.
and i didn't even think about 35w hid after the alternator stuff.
and i didn't receive any mail from you
try sending it to my hotmail id.

i have no idea about any RTO approval and stuff.
i have never ever ridden my bike to goregaon even once.
and i brought my bike home day before yesterday, until that time i used to be too busy with the mod work.
would be somebody else.

you won't believe puneet, the mech used to say exactly the same lines.
we used to test and try stuff, and other people used to come there with their own bike problems, after seeing my bike everybody used to ask
OMG what's that ??
those who didn't know what alternator looks like, were told that normally bike runs until 100 kmph, but with this (2nd engine) bike will run till 160 kmph..

for those who knew that this is an alternator, and what's it doing here, he used to say "We are preparing for World Cup finals at wankhade stadium, they need more light, so i am helping this guy make one"

HID is used only in the low beam, its tooo bright to be used even inside the projector, so not even planning to put up in the high beam's place.
it will cause a lot of problems to on-comming traffic, looking at it with the projector's cut off is also quite difficult.

100w hid.. Never knew anything like
This before. Once again congo for your great achievement.

Few stupid questions, which one will be more brighter, a single 100w hid or 3 * 40w hid. If 100w is the answer then why?

Is there any hid available in 55 or 60w range?

Wats the cost of the hid and how to procure it?
Firstly thanks for the compliments (God..... it feels like i got married and everyone are congratulating me)
regarding the brightness, i haven't compared it to 40w hid yet, as it is we all know that Navnish's 40 watt hid is decently bright enough.

all i can say is that this the the brightest ever headlight my eyes have seen.
if you prefer going for this than you will have to STRICTLY use it only inside the projector (with the shield) as its too bright.

the difference is actually the bulb is 3 times bigger in size, the xenon tube area is huge, which helps to attain such high level of brightness, it heats up the same as 35w or 40w even 55w hids, so no more worries of burning the reflector.

i will post the pics soon, i clicked some pics an hour ago, but they were not upto the mark as i cannot find my tripod, so I'll search it first and then post pictures.

@ doc

well, its a very long story with very very high ups and downs.
i can't thank enough to YOU & PSR to get all the logic right.
i wanted something which is one time job, this one was it, i knew its going to be very difficult and a big trial and error method, but i just wanted to do it, no matter what.

All i knew was that I'll get 600 bloody watts of PURE DC current at idling itself, i couldn't resist ignoring this.

with mods like these you need people who can think like you, work like you and again knowledgeable enough to guide you if something is wrong.

firstly i discussed all this in detail with DOC, and i was actually planning to install the alternator on the swing arm, by attaching the chain sprocket on the pulley area so that it will rotate, and won't hamper the looks of the bike.
But it would remain stationary when the bike is standstill hence i dropped the plan.

as my bike didn't have a starter motor (self start), so i thought why not install the necessary flywheel and step down gear to run the starter assembly and run the alternator through that...

as by doing this, it will keep rotating with the crank.

But later after much calculations it was found out that it will give the shaft ratio of 22:1.
then came a reduction gear idea which again gave 16:1 ratio
Which means on 1 crank rotation it will make the alternator rotate 16 times.

this was too high as the bike revvs till 7.5k and thus i had to drop that plan too.

finally the crank extension idea came up, and so it was made.

(we even discussed CAM-SHAFT extension before this but didn't go it it)

So many times it felt like stopping the work, i couldn't find the parts initially, and with such mods, people who work for you know that its a juggad work, so if you are ready to pay them almost 2-3 times more than standard, they'll work for you.

this happens almost everywhere in this country.

but still that something kept me going.
it took a great time, great efforts, and great minds too, but it finally happened.

i happen to meet a very good mechanic as well as a very smart Lathe guy who worked day and night to make this happen, all the calculations and alignments were done a lot of time to avoid problems later.

A very special thanks to another xbhpian Vikas Kurup to help me fine these smart people.

days went on, and we became more clear with the mod, it seemed impossible on day one, day by day, the possibility grew.
i was made fun of almost everybody initially when i wanted this to happen, there were people saying why the hell do you want so much of light, don't you already have 2 god-damm hids installed ???

but i kept holding on, i was too stubborn to bloody fit an alternator on a motorcycle, no matter what...

finally it did happen, we had to change a lot of things like the entire electrical systems, as i had to remove my COIL completely.
we had to move the footrests back upto 4 inches so that the pulley can be avoided from the foot contact.
the wiring had to be changed, the exhaust too had to be changed as mine didn't fit with this new footrests.

the work kept on getting delayed, and pounding over.

but still, it was destined to happen.

and it finally did.

but today, after seeing the response i am getting, the compliments, the phone calls, the PMs, it really feels great.
it feels like an achievement, more than it felt the day i saw the 100w's brightness in real....

Thanks again to everybody.

It is good to see your project coming out successfully, and all your efforts coming good..Like the saying " Successful people don't do different things..they do it differently " you had dared to think out of the box.
Good luck ,and Best Wishes to your success.

The most outlandish, bizarre, eccentric modification. I believe no one could even think like this. you are an innate engineer nano. Its really really impressive how you extended your thoughts beyond the potential man. Never saw anything which had this much creativity. you are really lucky that you are getting support for your creativity and you proved that with resources in hand people like you can create wonders. By looking at the pics only I felt extreme excitement; nano what were you thinking when you completed this thing? too much hogaya? you deserve the acclamation man.

Did you document everything?
What about the reliability? Is it safe for the alternator to be fitted to the safety rod?
What happens if anything hits the alternator/safety rod?

Do prepare a piece of writing and publish that in your page.
xbhp magazine can feature your work nano.

Hey i dont really have words....

itz a revolution in bike lighting.....

Can you do me a favour infact not just to me...
Can you just shift to kerala for a month, Kerala is running low on electricity...
Every home in kerala are now sacrificing 1hr from their daily power usage, since itz exam time for the school goers... so we'l find a place for in Centre kerala... and would construct a tree-top garage cum home for you and your bike... start your bike and run it from 8pm to 3am with your handle facing the north and on the second day please turn it to the south... otherwise we will arrange a two-way reflecting mirror you would jus need to keep it straight...
you would be doing a great thing...

OFFER:
accomodation + food + 17hrs leisure + fuel + ..etc free + salary of demand...

What do you say?

may be he is having problem differentiating daylight from night now,

Night is the time when ladies stops talking, switches on the TV and starts crying.... so when you find them crying take your camera come out and show how you light the streets.. or tu bhi aankons se paani nikaalna shuru kiya kya??? ...
