Default Honda CBR250R Gets Street Sport Exhausts from Yoshimura.

Honda CBR250R Gets Street Sport Exhausts from Yoshimura.

The bike that was bound to be a hit ever since it saw daylight in Milano, at last year’s EICMA show, is now receiving attention from the aftermarket component specialists at Yoshimura, just like its bigger siblings.

Specifically, the CBR250R entry level sportbike develops 7bhp in standard form, shy of the 33bhp restriction for category ‘A’ licence holders.

Yoshimura have developed a new R-77J Street Sport slip-on end can to do just that. Both Stainless Steel End Cap and Carbon End Cap versions will be available in three sleeve versions; Stainless, Titanium and Metal Magic and features a removable dB-Killer baffle. Peak power and torque are improved, with a significant weight saving over stock.

As a fresh reminder, we’ll tell you that the CBR250R comes fitted with Combined ABS, a class-first, a system that includes a Combined Brake System (CBS) and an Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS).

Tech Specs are as follows:

CBR250R R-77J Street Sports slip-on Stainless end cap
180-420-5V50 Stainless Steel £493.07
180-420-5V80 Titanium £575.25
180-420-5V20 Metal Magic £575.25

CBR250R R-77J Street Sports slip-on Carbon end cap
180-420-5W50 Stainless Steel £575.25
180-420-5W80 Titanium £657.43
180-420-5W20 Metal Magic £657.43

Noise Output (decibels)
With dB-Killer fitted: 86 dB @ 4,250 rpm
Without dB-Killer fitted: 94 dB @ 4,250rpm

Just few questions, can some experts help me understand pls?
1. What's the spring kind of stuff found on the last image? What's the purpose?
2. And what does "With dB-Killer fitted: 86 dB @ 4,250 rpm" really mean? My understanding on FFE/AM exhaust goes that, at any point in time or at maximum RPM, XX is the amount of decibel that can be heard. So, if this one says 86dB at 4250 RPM, then wouldn't it exceed the 91dB limit imposed by Govt at even higher RPMs? Pls help understand.

Damn expensive!!! Should cost atleast 40K or above isn't it? Any idea on the output performance? Anyone pls?

Of course, it might exceed 91 db. That's why it doesn't come as stock on a CBR. It's like "keep the stock exhaust, or keep the revs low".
In India, anything goes but abroad you must use these on racetracks only, or maybe in some areas, keep the revs low...

Db killer, as Joel explained earlier, will not make your exhaust comparable to the stock exhaust. It will kill db slightly.

Can't say about performance, but in looks, this exhaust looks much better than the Stock exhaust.

Is there a power gain from using these after market exhausts? I guess so, just want to be clear in my head.

Also are these complaint with the emission norms since I have seen some do away with the catalytic converters. (Not so sure about these)

^^ ideally they are not, thats why they are restricted for track use only. A cat - con saps a lot of the exhaust gas thrust, creating a back pressure. These FFEs minimize the back pressure, improving the power output and the rev-ability of the engine.

@aargee - those springs are generally to hold the end can in place, and reduce vibrations. Also for quick swapping/changing

Hi

I m planning to install the Yoshi exhaust on my CBR.
Had a couple of queries.

1. Do we need to alter the standard pipe to install this slip-on?

2. Also I have completed 4000kms on my bike. Is there any Km limit after which we need to install the exhaust. For Eg, once the bike has completed 5000km or 10000km?

3. Would there be any effect on the engine ie. since its generating the extra power, would it be affecting the engine in the long run?
