Default Journey of P200 to P15

I am unable to find a good word to start up with…as I am not a professional writer. It was a long journey to make my P200 to P15 or R200 whatever you can consider. It is now a combination of Pulsar 200, R15 and R1!!! Got confused …Let me explain briefly.
When I saw a R15 first…I was so impressed with its look that I wished if I could have such a bike. But there were some constraints.
1. I was not willing to sell my Pulsar 200 as there were many memories with it. I had made trips to Bhutan, Vizag and many more places which are memorable for my lifetime.
2. Purchasing a new R15 and maintaining both bikes was always no for me as it was out of my budget.
One day I saw a CBZ Extreme with R15 fairing and alas…it was looking awesome. In the next very moment it stroked to my mind that if I can fit the fairing and Handle bar on my Pulsar 200 then my wish will be fulfilled. I went to one bike modeling shop and enquired about this and also came across Xionite in XBHP who has customized his pulsar with R15 fairing.
The day came for me when I went to the modeling shop and asked him to put the R15 fairing and handle bar on bike with complete bike coloring. He asked me to leave the bike for 7 days with him. On 7th day I got a call from him saying that all work is done. I was so desperate to see my bike that I left office work in middle, caught an auto and went to the place. Wowwwww…this was my first expression when I saw my bike. It was looking awesome than I expected.
In between I saw a R1 like light on R15 (4 projectors) and was planning to put the same on my bike. I had a talk with the modeling shop and he told that he will take 7-10 days to make it complete. He fixed a used R15 headlamp on my bike and started to fix the 4 projectors with 4 HIDs in the new R15 headlamp.
After 10 days I went to fix the headlamp on my bike. He took one day to put it and made the wiring of HID but now there is a big issue for providing charge to the battery. Pulsar 200 stock RR unit was not sufficient enough to provide current to the 2 HIDs at one time. I took the bike to Cuttack (30 Km from Bhubaneswar) to wind the coil properly for giving extra charging. That guy was famous for black box wiring as he never does wiring in front of the customer. He kept my bike for 1 day and did some changes with putting the APE RR unit and removing stock RR unit. After that the bike was able to support 2 HIDs at a time. I thought all my work is done.
When I came across one topic in XBHP where I saw an alternator is setup on a Fiero bike which supports two 100W HIDs…my jaws hanged. And it was none other than our Prof Lightinstien aka Nano. I bowed to this person for this awesome modification. I contacted Nano immediately in PM. He helped me a lot answering all my silly queries patiently.
Finally I made up my mind to put the alternator on my bike and searched for a used alternator. I suggested this idea to the person who modified my bike and he was ready to do it. This time I was present at the place as I had less belief that the guy will be able to make it. But he did it in one shot. The crank rod, the pulley, the rubber belt and fitting of the alternator everything went fine in just one try. The wiring was changed to old model pulsar wiring along with changing the switch set. Though the projectors were not aligned properly hence light was not focusing properly. The high beam was working as low beam (don’t ask me about the low beamL) but I was so happy with the successful performance of alternator that I forgot everything. All the 4 HIDs were glowing and it was looking like a R1 light setup.
It was the final day when I went to the shop to align the projectors to the proper height. After so many struggles (around 1 hour) we were able to fix the projectors and the light spread was awesome. My modification was done and now I roam around in Bhubaneswar with 4 HIDs on and taking the attention of every person. Where I stop either people stare at me or ask me what I have fitted inside the R15 fairing (alternator)J !!!
There were many more small things done in between the mod but if I will start writing it, it will be a 4-5 page bookJ. Hence dropping the idea!!!
If someone asks to whom I will thank for this…I have couple of names. Nano (for helping me out in each and everything) A big bow to this guy…without him I could not have even thought of doing such big mod, Pawan (for helping me converting my BCU from AC to DC…though I have removed the BCU later), The modeling guy (who was always interested in doing new things…I have never heard a NO from him for anything I wanted) and my Bullzzz group (biker group) where each one encouraged me for the big modification.
Major change/Modification:-

  • R15 fairing with Handle Bar
  • 4 HIDs with Projectors and Angel eyes.
  • Alternator
  • Complete Change in wiring (removed BCU and done old model pulsar wiring)
  • Changed front and rear tyres
  • Complete bike coloring
Advantages:-
  • The rash driving of mine has been reduced a lot as I can think how much it will burn my pocket if the bike will fall J
  • Not in a mood of racing with other bikes anymore.
  • Unique piece in Bhubaneswar…draws attention especially in night J(4 angel eyes and 4 HIDs)
Disadvantages:-
  • Bike has become very heavy and a bit difficult to handle.
  • Mileage has been reduced from 40 to 35.
  • As the complete wiring is changed along with HID wirings and alternator wiring, a small problem gives me huge tension.
Anyone have any questions or anything please ask me as I am not able to remember each and everything.
Problem faced till now:-
  • One day bikes self start was not working. Initially thought that battery was down but when the self was made direct still it was not working. Problem was with self starter motor. Changed the motor and it worked fine.
  • One day one of the HID was glowing though the ignition was off. Somehow it was direct. It was standing at the parking lot for few hours with HID on hence battery was down for which I had to start my bike by pushing it. When checked, it was found that the cutout used for the HID was short circuited due to water inside it. Changed the cutout and it was working fine.
  • One day when I switched on ignition, bike started automatically. After switching off, bike also got stopped. This happened twice. Third time also bike started while switching on ignition and after switching off, the induction motor continued revolving. It took the complete charge of battery and stopped finally. When checked it was found that the self reply was short circuited for which it was starting direct (without pushing the self start button). Changed the replay and thing worked fine.
  • One day after starting bike when I switched on the HIDs, the meter bulb of induction motor continued glowing (it was supposed to off after starting of motor). I thought there was a problem with motor but when checked the fuse was cut for which current was passing directly to the meter bulb. Fuse was changed and everything was fine.
Some snaps of my bike attached…Have a look and comment J !!! Photos of night…coming soon !!!

@Cityhunter: a great example of a perfect mod- looks awesome! Why not alter the look of Silencer to the R15 V2.0 type with P15 lettering on it??

also, in photos the dual discs in front look cool! are both functional??

Really nicely done mods. Loved the 4 HIDs with Projectors and Angel eyes of the bike.
