Kinetic Blaze – Catch me if you can!
![]() Kinetic Blaze (earlier titled Millenium) is the first launch from the Kinetic Italiano Series of scooters. Kinetic Blaze truly is a world-class product very ahead of anything else currently in India. The Blaze is slated for launch starting from March, with nationwide availability by April. Kinetic Blaze is a real step forward in the two wheelers market of India, and breaks completely new ground in scooter format with an aggressive and largesized motoscooter design, supremely comfortable with a majestic presence. "Motoscooters" are the popular choice of vehicles worldwide; and with the introduction of the Blaze, the Indian commuter and enthusiast will finally have a choice to travel with style, comfort, safety, speed and convenience. The Blaze is powered by a 165cc 4 stroke, 4-valve engine – the most powerful engine ever on a gearless scooter in India; and first time introduction of advanced 4-valve engine technology in scooters. The Blaze also offers several features aimed at offering a delightful user experience:
time in India - Twin rear suspension for extra stability (first time in India)
Kinetic's Italiano series of scooters, comprises seven bestselling true-blue European scooter designs that Kinetic bought from Italian manufacturer Italjet. These seven new scooter designs that have previously been bestsellers abroad and will now come to India for the first time. They offer a complete range from classic, futuristic, sporty, radical to vintage retro designs and engine specifications will range from 50cc all the way up to 250cc. Clearly, these scooters are like a breath of fresh air in the scooter industry where the scooter format has not changed since 1984 when Kinetic brought in India’s first gearless scooter. While motorcycles in India have segmented from 100cc to 250cc and in designs from commuter to cruisers to sportsbikes; the scooter segment has not benefited from much innovation; despite strong growth in the gearless category. But Kinetic’s Italiano series will create new market segments, present revolutionary designs and possibly alter the face of the Indian two wheeler market. In fact, some scooters like the radical Dragster are like technological thunderbolts with unique trellis frame, independent steering system with a single hydropneumatic shock absorber with an adjustable spring; while the large sized Blaze and Jupiter will create a new segment of their own. –“Plus scooter that retains a two-wheeler’s endearing ability to slice through traffic very fast without the vulnerability that comes with small wheeled pint sized scooters” - “A lot of scooter for your money” - “what I liked most about the Blaze is the way it felt. You sit in the rider’s seat with a wide seat-step instantly supporting the lower back. Feet get tucked up high in the footboard cutouts and arms hang lazily from the bars midway between a normal streetbike and a full style cruiser. It’s a comfortable position to hold.” - “I don’t think I’ve quite enjoyed riding a scooter this much.” - “Big wieldy likeable scooter”
Design Pedigree of the Kinetic Blaze Kinetic Blaze is a true-ble Italian designed scooter designed by Italian Entrepreneur and motorcycle enthusiast Leopoldo Tartarini himself. Few have led as full a life as the Italian entrepreneur Tartarini. His is the story of a flourishing career as a motorcycle racer cut short by an injury which led to the founding of on of Italy’s most prestigious names – Italjet. Mr. Tartarini is the founder and head of Italjet. Mr. Tartarini started out as a passionate riding enthusiast who participated in and won several motorcycling races and been acknowledged as one of Ducati’s leading racers of all time. Tartarini's passion for riding was not limited to the races. His most remarkable motorcycling achievement was when he decided to drive his Ducati 175 around the world. Accompanied by his friend Giorgio Monetti, the duo travelled around the world, sixty thousand kms in all, in one year. They travelled through 42 countries including India, Australia, New Zealand, South America, North Africa and through Europe; encountering numerous adventures along the way: a fight over women in a bar in Singapore, being mugged in the desert on the way from Iran to Iraq, and so on. As a reminder of his long distance feat, Tartarini today smokes the same brand of tobacco he first enjoyed in Chile during that very trip, and still owns the bike he did it on. Mr. Tartarini is a highly acclaimed automobile designer who has received important global recognition and designed for world’s most prestigious brands including Ducati, Gilera, Piaggio, Yamaha and others. ‘Ducati in those days was mainly an engine manufacturer,’ he explains, ‘so it had no design studio and limited production-line capacity for complete motorcycles, because it was busy building diesels and suchlike for automotive and industrial use. Italjet was called upon to design almost all the early Ducati V-twin bikes, and chassis layout. Later, we not only designed the frame as well as the styling for the range of Ducati parallel twins, but actually manufactured the bikes ourselves here in the Italjet factory. But then I was fortunate to foresee the impact of the scooter boom in Italy, which is why we withdrew from our collaboration with Ducati even before the Cagiva take-over and concentrated on the activity for which we are best known today. “ Mr. Tartarini’s creations form part of the permanent exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and also have been included and awarded at the Guggenheim Museum, New York. He is the founder of one of Italy’s most prestigious names Italjet and has designed Kinetic’s Italiano range of scooters of which Blaze forms a part. scooters are actually great and maxi scooters are REAL fun as well as having great practical touring value. this blaze is good. reminds me of the first kinetic honda scooter.
I think majhar khan then did an ad which went like " Honda, Kinetic Honda. ... it changes you, and you will never be the same again." high time people started seeing two wheelers as something to have fun. an affordable little luxury. |

This is one helluva machine. I have done close to 5000 kms on this one on roads that did not have much tarmac. You know what I am talking about. It beat the daylights out of Karizma on altitudes anything higher than 2500 meters. Simply whacked it. It had one major drawback though. Braking was pathetic. We complained big time. I think they have later introduced a front disc version.

The seating posture is excellent for touring. But, everything else is very bad. Durability is a big question. If you get a problem, it is very diffcult with the bike.
![]() Payeng, it is still on sale now.

its a very nice touring bike.... as the above mentioned its seating postion is great....dont get back pain after long rides....even back seat is good.....but it provides max comfort for the rider....
its styling is great as well as a big bike feel...Italiano looks BUt...its tank capacity is too low for touring ...availability of spares is surely an issue...and not all the Local Mechanics Knows its Mechanism... |
