@ Joel: But dude, doesn't Dyno reveal figures @ rear wheel, then how do you think you got that 17-18 bhp @ crank for P220 ...

You aren't saying the company cheated us .. are you?

Agreed that all companies exhibit output at crank. But there is a typical transmission loss of 2 - 2.5% IIRC which means the rear wheel output is normally that %age less than at the crank.

Once Joel tested the P180(no idea which version) on the dyno, it was putting out something around 12.xx bhp at the rear wheel. U do the math!

That percentage somehow happens to be huge number for the entire Pulsar series! Especially compared to the other bikes.

Can it be because of the 120 sections on the rear??

@El loco : No yaar! The difference between the output at crank and wheel is no-where connected to the tire width. It is the difference between output of bhp at the crank to the effective power transferred thru' the transmission. The wheel is not part of the transmission.

Agreed at rear wheel it will be less due to losses but at the crank was there any difference, what was the calculated bhp ???

I do not think we have the right equipments to measure output at crank. So essentially we can conclude that either the crank output is less than what is claimed by BAJAJ or there is a HUGE transmission loss in the Pulsar compared to other bikes of similar config.

@Apar: What you say is true.. but the normal (read: optimistic) losses are close to around 10-12%, according to what I studied a long time ago

That's the reason the R15 actually is a very well engineered bike, the transmission losses are very low relatively, and from what I hear the newer Gladiators are also very efficient in the transmission.

@prashant benz: Keep us updated with your before and after feedback(s).

As for me, my V1 is happily stock, with a tyre change done half an hour ago. After 37k, have shifted to M45s at the back, and M62 in the front

^^Never knew that. Thanks for the info. Either ways, with or without transmission losses I miss my modded V1 for all the hooliganism I did with it!!!!
