Default RTR 180 Menace

Guyss!!!! My friend works at TVS Racing as I had posted on another post elsewhere. My Bro owns an FZ 16 and cant stop cribbing. My crib was mostly about the stupid commuterish performance of the bike but he tells me that he gets 32 kmpl in the city ... too low for a non performing but great looking 150 FZ. I was such Yamaha fan but after 2 purchases in the family first an R 15 which I bought and have already sold it coz its good looking crap now the FZ also disappointed; I am looking else where.

In comes TVS RTR 180 Menace as reported on the site . He says its a 180cc, 17+ bhp scorcher of a bike and they were the last I heard of him benchmarking it against R 15. It ll be lightest weight in its class and full of features.

Now what he said about this is what will be music to guys like us who are members of a site that reads "X" Bhp. Assuming all of us a Performance seekers as our site name suggests. TVS found the R15 boring in the tests and they discontinued the benchmarking exercise after reading the 0-100 kmph run. Thats preposterous if u thought wait. they now have started testing it against P 220 and P 200 in straight lines. He says it ll be the fastest 0-100 kmph bike in India.

Just browsed thru linkedin. He is Senior Segment Manager-Performance Motorcycles working for TVS Motors. I am not completely surprised for TVS pulling in a scorcher. They are just a lil bit late but hope it would be something kicka$$!!

Now this seems interesting. I can see most of the members/fans face turning out to:

^Hang on... From linkedin you know one end of information about a person... but the other end is still an unconfirmed 'news' item! Stop reading them together...

For Example, I just spoke to one Mr. H.S. Goindi, who has confirmed that TVS is working on a 250CC bike for India/Emerging Markets... which is why the RTR is going to US...

Since everyone wants HMSI to launch the 'Blade soon, they just might rebadge the Unicorn as a fireblade and launch it

It's so funny to see such a khichdi of facts and expectations being poured out. However i don't quite understand why we allow our Masculinity to overrule our head by wanting all bike companies to introduce "200 cc +" vehicles when on Indian roads one can bearly touch 90 kmph (which even a Splendour can do). Shouldn't we be asking for bikes with better safety features like ABS and better fuel efficiency than just wanting more engine displacement?

bro..its not just about the 90 kmph speedo reading..its how you fast get to that 90kmph...and how fast you can bring that down to 0 kmph...
and moreover, more displacement just doesnt mean that you are plugging in a bigger engine into a existing frame...a whole lot of safety and handling tweaks will be in place to support it..of course, efficiency is a matter of concern..
havent you noticed how successful the pulsar 200 is?...its the combination of the power, the goodies and the efficiency that makes a great bike..
no hard feelings bro...just spoke my mind..

Arent we? We want bigger disc brakes and rear discs too. That is a safety feature,in my humble opinion. We want FI because that allows better fuel efficiency.
As regarding muscularity overruling our heads,it's natural. And I think the higher powers like to keep it that way.
As regarding 'even a Splendor can do 90',I think there's more to an expensive, more power bike than doing 90km per hour.

True.. but there are chances of a USD fork in the next generation pulsars/avengers.. Endurance had made one desi USD for Bajaj and they were testing them on the Avenger.. Bike India had posted the pic of an avenger with an endurance USD fork long ago.. hope we get it soon.. i want to see my RD350 with USD Forks
