Question Repair - Few Questions!

Dear All,

It has been a while i own a Classic CBZ and am very much satisfied with his proformance. I own another bike (Ninja 650R), which is a monoshock and comes with a Digital Speedo. So i was thinking of giving my bro (CBZ) an update by changing the rear suspension and changing the consoles (old console is anyways busted).

Update includes:
(1) Changing the rear swingarm and shocks to either FZ-16 or R15 swingarm and monoshock.
(2) Changing the busted console to R15 digital console.

I have been searching for a while but sadly dint get much information about my requirements, so was wondering if you guys have some information about:

(1) How much will a R15/FZ-16 swingarm and monoshock cost?
(2) How much will a R15 digital Speedo cost?
(3) Has anyone done any of these upgrades?

Looking forward to your responses

Thanks,
Akhil Pathania

the digital consoles need a different kind of input signal that doubt if other bikes can provide even with some changes to cables... In fact, we tried to go for a FZ's console for a P200 (both of them Digital) but the connector looked different and we dropped that idea (also the FZ consoles were out of stock then)

About the swing arm... why don;t you check the Unicorn;s swingarm and suspension? This might be a better than to do than looking out for one from Yamaha's with a totally different body layout.

Also, please keep in mind that a chasis built for mono suspension would have a different arrangement for the pipes that hold your seat - they'd be stronger. They need to be stronger to hold the weight without the regular suspension supporting them mid-way.

Yeah as you said, it might be a magnetic sensor or a light sensor, but probably they can be fitted by doing some alterations.

I want to use a R15 or FZ-16 swingarm, as they look a lot more solid and a re black in colour and moreover they will be in a position to hold the 120 rear tyre i already have

When i finally go to buy, i sure will check if these swingarms fit CBZ or not, probably if i can find someone who has already tried this stuff, it will save me so much effort, like u shared your experiance with the digital console

Thanks..

R15 digital cost Rs.3800/-

u can go for FZ-16 swingarm which is long & simple compared to R15.....but the best tried & tested one is check for honda family which as relatively same mounting points..

i too heared that to mount a digital speedo u required to change the wiring kit not only that every electrical need to be checked coz there is some relation even with ignition...........

Thanks for the Info Dream Horse

I am just keeping my fingers crossed that swingarm of either of the Yamaha has the same mounting points, otherwise i will have to fall back on Unicorn's swingarm...
