Me think why the resistors ...If you link 4 or 5 LEDs in series can we do away with resistors altogether ? Also since power consumption is being drastically reduced , we could plonk in much more numbers of LEDs .

The thing about bike electrical is that, the voltage does not remain constant, which is the basic reason why the resistors are needed, moreover, there wont be any space for more number of LED's

Default Combination LED tail+brake lamp circuit for better efficiency & space management

here's link to my circuit for a combined LED brake+tail light, its more efficient than separate LED cluster for braking & tail lamp... the LED's brightness increases while braking...

i have done a similar mod on mY HH Splendor
I thought some one can benefit or take ideas from my setup.

A good website for calculating Resistor values is LED series parallel array wizard

Cost
perf board 25
leds 2*10=20(5mm led red)
2*6=12 ultrabright white
