Thumbs up Simple Camera mounted on bike - to see the road from the crash guard angle

Hi all,

This is my first DIY, I did this in 2010. Sorry posting it late.

I saw a lot of videos on youtube on camera mounted on bikes. At that time I had a bike, I couldn't afford a digicam. So I followed the saying - "Where there is a will, there is a way"

So I used a simple cardboard box, that I got when i purchased a small LED torch as a mobile holder, and
  1. mounted it on my bike's(Discover 100cc) crash guard
  2. My mobile Nokia 3110c had 1.3Mp camera and that mobile is placed inside the cardboard box and the cover of the box is placed and taped.
  3. The cover of the box has a simple rectangular hole in it so that the camera can record and at the same time no dust/ dirt/ water hit my mobile.
  4. Adequate spacing is given so that when i tape the box, none of the keys in the mobile gets pressed
  5. The box has small pieces of foam on its sides so that mobile is somewhat stuck and doesnt shake
  6. This will be an awesome tool while riding on ghat sections etc
  7. A simple experiment with a trial run a nearby shop and back.

Also I had tried a similar video to show how well the Rear Shocks of my bike work, for this I mounted the same box on the raer number plate bolts. the angle was very good, unfortunately I am not getting it now, I did this six - nine months back. Yesterday I searched my HDD and got this. The video will explain and demonstrate the rest.

This technique works well, I have tested this invention(I know its a small one) for over 40kms over a couple of days, that includes ride to office and back etc)

Had enough issues like
  1. whenever i got a call, the video recording stops!
  2. when u rip hard, vibrations spoil the video clarity

All comments & feedbacks are welcome

A request to moderators, please allow the above link to be displayed in this post, as I dint know how to upload video.

Pretty soon, a better quality video, with my new 12MP camera and a simple mounting technique....
