Default Replace FZ(and others) Disk pads

NOTE-Considering how fatal a brake failure can be,If you are unsure how to replace brake pads then have a mechanic do it for you.

This article is in regard on how to replace a FZ's front disk pads but can be followed for pretty much all other makes too.
Generally the stock brake pads last abt 12k-15k km but the life largely depends on the riders use.

Check if its time for replacement.
You can determine if your pads have worn out by checking them by looking between the caliper and the disc itself before you dissemble it .The small grooves on the pad act as a wear indicator itself.See the diff. bet the new and old pads.If they are wearing thin you have to replace them. The following pic is of a 12k km old pad against a brand new pad.

NOTE-Never let your bike run on very thin pads,it can damage your disks.

Tools Needed
A clean cloth
Spanner(Size-12)
Plier

Getting started
Please do make sure the caliper and its surrounding areas are kept clean before dissembling.

Dissembling
First of all you will need remove the following 2 bolts of the caliper. You will need a size 12 spanner.

Once you have removed the caliper and kept the bolts aside safely pls do cover the disk with the clean cloth in order to avoid scratches by the caliper.

Next, you have to remove the following 2 clips in order to remove the pin its locked.

You can simply pull it out with a plier or mildly split the open ends if its too tight.

Once the clip is removed you have to pull out the pin that hold the pads on to the caliper.

Once the pin is removed just shake the caliper so that the pads fall off.

Make sure the metal Brake pad spring inside the calipers don't pop off.Remove, clean and wipe the caliper but replace it exactly how it was.

Now you have to push the 2 pistons in the caliper into its bore. You can do this by reinserting the old pads and stuff a large screwdriver in between them to push the pistons back or you can just use your strong thumbs!

After replacing the pads, clean up any remaining dirt,re insert the pin and clips, and bolt the caliper back to the fork.
NOTE-Use a torque wrench to avoid over tightening(and under tightening).

Pump you brake lever a few times and then you are ready to go!

NOTE-Ride nice and slow at first and make sure you have done the job well!If this is your first time just recheck with your local mech and confirm everything is fine!

Happy Braking!

ATTENTION-I have tried to explain as detail as possible and in case any information is incorrect pls feel free to let me know.

NOTE-Info is provided from my own knowledge and Please carry out this task at your own risk,I will not be responsible for any mis-hap.

And if you permit me Ranjith, there's one word of caution, if I may add. During this process, NEVER attempt to engage the front brakes, especially when the pads are removed.

Lol u dont have to remove any bolts... just proceed from taking the Pin thing out... its just a slip on thing and you dont need a spanner or a wrnchg.. just a plier to take off the pins.... you can even do it without a plier

Forgot to mention that. But its always recommended to remove the caliper for a closer look. Its important to clean the internals. As you can see my pics how dirty the internals are.even the metal Brake pad spring require replacement sometimes.and its also easier and safer to push back the pistons this way.

That would make the pistons protrude more and it will be difficult to push them back in as there is no return mechanism!

Correct me if wrong.

WOW!!
I think it not possible to push the pistons back in manually.
So its better of not use them when open.
