Hi,
No, Electronic flashers are load independent. They can flash without load also.
Stock flashers (coil type) are load driven.

Hi Saurabh,

Yes you can used led strips or leds as long as you use electronic flashers bcoz stock flasher wont support LEDs as the load is very less.
High intensity LEDs are available but they need special mounting and heat sink as they dissipate heat. Also these leds are way to costly, so for headlights stock bulbs are the best right now.

Hey i hav changed all the 4 indicators to led. But facing a new problem, if i turn on any indicator (left or right) all the four indicators are turned on. I m aware that the blinker is load dependent so they wont blink but why the indicators of both the sides are being turned on.
Cud this bcoz of the low power consumption of the leds ??
Any idea ?
Help !!

Firstly, you will need indicator bulbs, as many as u plan to convert to LED. Now we need to do what we usually dont do with bulbs, smash the bulbs.
Please use caution to break them as small splinters may cut your hand.
Use a cloth or cotton cloth to wrap the bulbs and break them.

Once the glass is removed, you need to clean out the holder which has some ceramic material inside.

Secondly, cut out 3 pieces or PCB (use general purpose board). I used the size of 12mm x 35mm pieces as the bulb holder is 14mm in dia, so 3 of the pcb will fit in there in a triangular manner.

LEDs: I used dome type leds which have a larger viewing angle, so light spread is more than typical leds.
Solder 3 leds in series and one resistor of 120ohms ¼watts. Wire the resistors from all the 3 pcbs together and connect it to center of the bulb holder. (You need to use solder iron to make a hole through the center contact).
For the grounding you need to connect the top of the LEDs (negative terminals) and wire it down to the outer shell of the bulb holder.

You need to apply double side tape or any insulating tape at the back of the pcb so the led contacts do not touch the adjoining sides.

Once the pcbs are ready, slide them into the holder, with the +ve wire going through the centre of the holder, and the ground to the outer shell of the holder.

Empty Bulb Shell

3 PCBs cut out in 12mm x 35mm

The 3 pieces glued so it becomes easy to insert them together in the shell

LEDS** mounted on the PCB (see description of LEDs below)

Completed LED Bulb

** The LEDs i used are called 5mm superflux LEDs or Dome LEDs. Attached is datasheet for the same.
(PS These are available with Asian Electronics in Mumbai) PM me if u need contact details.
excellent job done... is it a plug and play? any resistance used to correct the blink rate as i believe the blink rate will be quite quicker with LED indicators...
