bored with your stock exhaust note and want to switch to k&n but worried that it may damage your engine, well by this DIY we can get K&n exhaust note(similar to p150 not p220) and also will notice a increase in acceleration
things required a bike and its key
1st open the side cowl(for pulsar) and remove the seat then you will notice this air filter box and the rubber cap on the top as seen below
(this rubber cap is removable)
remove this cap
below is the pic after removing the cap
this is the cap after removing
now place the seat back, start the bike and check out the roar after 4k rpm, better take a short ride..btw if you are not satisfied or want to get the stock note back stick the rubber back onto the filter box.
AFAIK this wont harm the engine because this hole is behind the filter hence filter wont allow any dirt into the engine however this may require slight tweaking(because of slight increase in air flow will turn the mixture towards leaner side) to carb setting to get the max result
P.S i hav'nt done any tweaking to carb because im getting a better acceleration after removing this, also started experiencing slight poping of front end while hard acceleration(this popping was absent in my bike after 700km)

UPdate
REmoved the sensor in the filter box and now its sound about 90% like a K&N fitted bike..and the best part is it sounds like stock bike till 4k rpm after that it roars like anything.. below is the picture of the removed sensor,to remove that you need to remove the rear mudguard's front half part and remove that two screws on the filter box were a wire goes in,and finally disconnect the sensor and tape that plug to avoid any contact with water...
P.S after removing this you wont see the air filter chocked icon on the console even if the filter is dirty so a frequent(1.5k~2k) cleaning is required

, Yes you can remove it and you will feel the difference but the problem is water may get inside and spoil your filter [During service or during monsoon]
.

I hope this does not affect in economy or performance of my bike.
