If you know aditya from Chennai, His N650R had oil leak and rattly farirings(which was not fixed even after couple of visits to SVC). And all this within 400 kms after buying the bike. So these cannot be generalized for a brand. I have seen N650R vibrate as well. About rusting, I feel yes I feel some symptoms of it on the exhaust. I wipe it with the cloth and it looks like gone. But after a rain I see that again. But as per me, these are not issues that would make anyone choose a Ninja over a GT. Deciding factor would be what sort of bike someone wants(requirments).

I know Aditya very well actually - you have your facts incorrect, my friend - his bike wasn't leaking oil - it was seeping coolant from a loose hose which was fitted with one visit. Same with his fairing bolts. His issues with his bike occurred because he pushed PBK to do PDI, registration and delivery in one day, as a result of which some things were overlooked. So far from all the bikes delivered so far in the country - and we are in touch with a lot of them, courtesy a dedicated owners group on FB - the only complaints have been PDI related - not quality of the machine.

In any case, I am not trying to make a case that the N650 or GT650 is better or worse - I agree that the bike that one chooses is always based on the owners requirements/desires first. To each his own!

Yes, I am sorry about that. It was the coolant. But that was not fixed on the first visit. Or that is what he told me when we met.

My point is even with GT650R oil leak issue that u mentioned, the same PDI may or may not have been the issue. One bike's defect cannot be generalized is what I was trying to say. We have a GT ownership thread, and I also have certain friends who own it. And we have not seen this issue with any other bikes.

I am not trying to prove which bike is superior here. I am only trying to say that both bikes aren't bad/inferior to each other.

PS: Actually heard from aditya that you are a good friend of him

yes, indeed ur comparing ... u might not knowing it .... like it or not .. u have to take facts on these bikes with pinch of salt.

do u think a guy owning GT650R will stay away from long drives ... no way.. infact for example.. our own melroy is planning for a saddle sore on it.

and i deftly won;t believe ur words if u say that u won;t push ur N650R on corners .. .. see its not every one have enough money to buy different bike for different purpose .. its more of a one bike with multi purpose ..

and about quality wise .. i definitively wont buy ur word that some GT already had rust spots. ..
i have seen in even Harley that oil leaks... and more over R15 also have some rust spots ...

so when defining any product ..just don;t blindly categorize it .. all new GT's are better in quality and Ninja slightly better than GT.

bottom line is .. u get something and u lose some ... as owner u know exactly wt ur bike is missing and wt u have gained

Hi Nagoo! Long time no see!

Hey man, if i came across as wanting to place the N650R above the GT 650R, that was not my intention! If you check a few posts back I was actually sharing with a guy who wanted to know about the N650R. I commented that I would choose the N650 over the GT650 from the context of his touring - nothing else!

Regarding Mel - well he's already a Saddle Sore Guru on an FZ itself, so he's an exception anyway!

As for the rust spots, Manoj (Men in Jean) just clarified a few posts back that he does see them! So don't take just my word for it!

And actually you're wrong about the corners - I think your comment is based on seeing me lean over my N250R - that bike was built for cornering! The N650R doesn't have the suspension, CG or stance for leaning into corners aggressively - not that I haven't tried! Hahaha!
