Hello,
First off, thank you for including me in this forum! After years of contemplation and more than 6 years of exclusive car usage, finally decided to get back to biking. Why? I really miss the freedom it brings. With a car, it is difficult to say no to the wife and the kids. But with a bike - and a not too pillion friendly one at that - its easy to take off on solo jaunts, I am hoping! ![]() After spending a month on various forums, particularly xBhp, I zeroed in on the Ninja 250r. A decision made easy since it was always on the top of my list since my youth. Plus it being an entry level sports bike, I am hoping it will make future transitions easier. Went to Probiking Chennai and booked the black Ninja (not comfortable with the green color) last Saturday. 40k INR downpayment. Not comfortable with the green color. Was told the waiting period was a month. Not an issue since I wasn't in a hurry. Have placed orders for Black frame sliders (Bachoo motors on ebay), Tank pads, Rim Strips and basic gloves (Panet DSG). Looking to pick up Jacket and Helmet (pants later) Got a call yesterday saying that the bike has already arrived! Pleasant surprise! Making the payment over the weekend. Expecting to bring her home mid week post the RTO formalities and assignment of the number. Need input on Jacket (hellish summer use) Helmet - full face or flip open Budget 15k total Will keep posting with more information moving forward Last edited by Battleaxe; 02-06-2012 at 09:39 PM. Reason: Adding pics! |

1. Never fix a cap on the budget, if you can afford only 15K for now, then buy something worth (best is the one you like) that falls within the 15K & save some more to buy additional ones. 2. Buy mesh jacket that is best suited for summer weather. Have been using 2 meshes for more than a year+ now & its comfortable during peak Chennai summer 3. Helmet - best is full face & NEVER opt for flip open. One of my friend's friend had an incident where the flip opened up real bad & caused injury instead of protecting. 4. Best place to get them answered is Riding Gears thread; anyway, contact one of these in the order of best products+sellers... Thanks folks! I picked up a Cramster Breeze jacket along with DSG Motomesh gloves and Rjay Helmet. Rest post I finish the run in which I am hoping to do within City limits early in the morning say, 5 - 6 am daily (or as often as I can) when it is likely to be cooler. I have also ordered Puig Frame sliders from Bachoo motors and rim tapes and tank pads from Planet DSG.
Will post some pics later tonight. Didnt realize my thread was approved. Thanks again! |

As a relatively newbie motorcycle rider and riding my first sportsbike for the first time, I was quite apprehensive about riding it in the city. My home is about 12 kms from the Bajaj Probiking showroom and adding to my apprehension was my assumption that the low end torque was not good enough.
10 minutes into the ride was all it took for me to be convinced that this bike is a great bike even in city conditions. Never had a false neutral. Never knocked. Pulled from 20 kms easily on 4th gear. It was simply brilliant. Well planted and very easy to maneuver within the city, it is almost as good as your 150cc bikes (no offence meant, baby) in heavy traffic. The only indicator that the machine between your legs is a different animal is the heat in slow traffic. The moment traffic clears, the heat dissipates however. Pics later tonight!
